Back in 2018, self-taught designer turned multimillionaire fashion mogul Anine Bing sold her glam Los Feliz mansion for $5.4 million to “Stranger Things” creator Ross Duffer. Now she’s shifted her sights north by northwest, up to the seaside village of Montecito, where she and longtime husband Nicolai Nielsen have plunked down $8.6 million on a gated estate blessed with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
Born in Denmark and raised in Sweden by parents of Brazilian and Danish ancestry, Bing moved to Los Angeles at age 21 and used her international background to create a sophisticated fashion label that’s been described as “timeless [Scandinavian] simplicity with a rock ‘n roll edge.” The former model, now 38, received a $15 million Series A investment in 2018 and now has 11 physical stores across the globe, with locations in posh neighborhoods of L.A., Manhattan, Miami, San Francisco, London, Paris, Sydney, and Berlin, plus celebrity fans that include Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. (For those interested in shopping Anine Bing, just be sure your pocketbook is properly plump — one “Vintage Bing” t-shirt will run you $99.)
Bing and Nielsen’s new Montecito escape qualifies as a bonafide compound, with a detached poolhouse, plus a 5,400-square-foot main mansion with a separate wing that houses both the three-car garage and an upstairs guest unit with a bedroom and full bath. Built in 2007 and updated since, the property is described in the listing as a “gracious Tuscan-style estate” that’s the “coalescence of elegance, incredible scale, and romance.”
