Scheming never takes a holiday on the HBO mega-hit “Succession.” Case in point? The body of Roy family patriarch/Waystar Royco CEO Logan Roy (Brian Cox) is barely cold when his eldest son, Connor (Alan Ruck), begins maneuvering to purchase the media titan’s tony New York City home. While that property isn’t actually available – or even real, for that matter (it’s a Hollywood-created mashup of the American Irish Historical Society headquarters on Fifth Ave. and an elaborate set constructed on a soundstage at Silvercup Studios East in Long Island City), DIRT does have some good news for deep-pocketed fans hoping for their own piece of the “Succession” pie. The plush penthouse presently serving as the home of Connor’s younger brother Kendall (Jeremy Strong) is currently up for grabs!
Spanning the top three floors of 180 East 88th Street in Carnegie Hill, the luxe triplex has the distinction of being “the tallest residence north of 72nd Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side,” per listing information, offering “one of the most unique opportunities in the history of New York City.” Presented by the Corcoran Group for a cool $29 million, the unit comprises an impressive 5,508 square feet with five bedrooms and six baths (four full and two half), plus an incredible 3,501 additional square feet of private exterior space, including multiple loggias and terraces as well as a full-floor rooftop deck.
Newly completed in 2021 but heavily influenced by pre-war architecture, 180 East 88th Street is the brainchild of Joe McMillan’s DDG, the investment and development firm behind 41 Bond, 12 Warren, and 345meatpacking, with Manhattan-based HTO Architect responsible for the design. Towering 524 feet, the structure’s unique façade is fashioned from 600,000 custom handmade Kolumba bricks imported from Denmark, with gilded accents and dramatic arches attractively arranged throughout. Of the edifice, The Architect’s Newspaper details, “DDG was inspired by the boom in mid-rise masonry that occurred in the ’20s, specifically citing the work of Ralph Thomas Walker, in an effort to recoup brick detailing that has been recently lost to commoditized panel systems.”
Crafted for the Roys of the world, the building features a whopping eight floors and 10,000 square feet of lavish residential amenities that include a yoga studio, a wine room, a soccer pitch, a children’s playroom, a lounge, a basketball court, a catering kitchen and a stunning lobby with a breathtaking vaulted ceiling and ornamental plaster detailing formed by German sculptor Jan Hooss (who is also known for having created custom artwork for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s French estate, Château Miraval).

Regarding the inviting layout, DDG founder and CEO Joe McMillan explains in a video tour shot for Architectural Digest, “You may have noticed there’s a very open floor plan within the unit, but we tried to create very discreet spaces, so it doesn’t feel like one cavernous area.” Indeed, the formal dining room, great room, living room and den each boast their own unique and intimate appeal.

Jointly designed by DDG and the Italy-based Molteni Group, the expansive space is a chef and entertainer’s dream, furnished with Statuario Italian marble, white lacquered cabinets, brass Fantini fixtures and an integrated Gaggenau appliance package featuring two ovens, two dishwashers, an oversized refrigerator and adjacent wine fridge and a six-burner range topped by a handcrafted gilded hood that artfully scales its way upward to the ceiling.

A true statement piece, the latter rises 40 feet as it leads to levels two and three via a series of lyrical twists and turns.

Perched 50 stories above the bustling city below, the vast space features a dining area, an outdoor living room, a powder room, unparalleled 360-degree views and a towering fireplace that, like 180 East 88th Street itself, is wrapped in Kolumba brick.
Screaming opulence and wealth, the penthouse was a shoo-in to appear on “Succession.”

But while only featured briefly, the gorgeous surroundings certainly leave an impression, with Kendall’s ethereal home in the sky offering a captivating juxtaposition to the grief heavily weighing him down.

Located across the park on the Upper West Side atop the ritzy 200 Amsterdam complex, the two-floor, four-bedroom, five-bath, 6,325-square-foot property is where Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin), having already successfully “pre-grieved” his father, is shown getting ready to attend the media mogul’s wake at the beginning of “Honeymoon States.” Nestled 660 feet in the air on the building’s 49th and 50th levels, the duplex affords grandiose views of the city skyline, the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge, as was showcased exquisitely in the episode. Available at $38 million, the lofty price is nevertheless quite a steal compared to the $63 million Connor impulsively agrees to pay for Logan’s former digs, a deal deftly secured by his hard-driving widow, Marcia (Hiam Abbass), via a simple spit shake.
