Somebody call the camera crew, because she’s at it again! Less than a year after Christina Haack dropped $10.3 million for a snazzy mansion in a Dana Point gated community, she’s changing addresses. Records reveal the veteran HGTV star (“Flip or Flop,” “Christina on the Coast”) has paid exactly $12 million for a slick new home in Newport Beach, TMZ first revealed. Simultaneously, the 38-year-old O.C. native has successfully flipped that Dana Point house in an $11.5 million, off-market deal to aerospace entrepreneur Norm Christensen, as was reported by the New York Post.
The Bentley-driving businesswoman, recently married to her third husband Joshua Hall, will be steering into a new house built just last year. Designed by Laidlaw Schultz Architects, the nearly 7,000-square-foot mansion is an “architectural tour-de-force” that was “inspired by midcentury icons,” per the listing. The glassy structure was built for Francis Tran, an executive at mortgage juggernaut LoanDepot. (Tran’s boss, LoanDepot CEO Anthony Hsieh, recently paid $61 million for a Newport Coast mansion that still ranks as the most expensive Orange County home ever sold.)
And Haack apparently wanted this house quite badly. She swooped in and bought it before the place even had a chance to hit the market; indeed, the listing notes say the property “sold in 60 seconds, off-market.” While that’s probably a bit of tongue-in-cheek realtor exaggeration, the core point remains true — at least when it comes to real estate, Haack knows what she wants, and she also tends to get what she wants.
Unfortunately, because the deal went down off-market, photos and details of the new Haack estate are somewhat scarce. From what we can tell, the vaguely U-shaped house is aggressively modern, with hard-edged lines and crisp detailing throughout, and it tightly hugs a courtyard containing a swimming pool and patch of grassy lawn. Inside, there are imported terrazzo floors, a state-of-the-art movie theater, a “floating” staircase, and top-of-the-line security and home automation systems.
The rambling residence takes up a big chunk of the 0.37-acre lot, which is not oceanfront and also does not appear to sport an ocean view. Still, the property is just a short walk to the sea, and it’s also jogging distance from Newport Harbor, Castaways Park and Balboa Peninsula, plus just a quick drive from the numerous luxury shopping and dining destinations for which Newport Beach is famed.
Keven Stirdivant of Kase Real Estate handled both sides of the transaction.
And besides her fancy new Newport digs, Haack still owns a multimillion-dollar vacation home just outside Nashville, Tennessee.
