Answer: A sprawling Studio City estate long owned by one of television’s most iconic game show hosts that’s newly listed at $7 million
Question: What is Alex Trebek’s Studio City home?
While the search goes on (and on) for someone to permanently fill the legendary shoes of late “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek — Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings are slated to share hosting duties through the end of the current season, and a debate roils about whether a limit should be reinstated on winning streaks, the family of the legendary game show host, who passed in late 2020 at 80, after an almost two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, have decided it’s time to part with eight-time Daytime Emmy winner’s gated estate in L.A.’s sleepy, celeb-favored Fryman Canyon area.
The almost $7 million price is more than three times the $2.15 million Trebek paid for the property in 1991, about seven years after he became the generously and famously mustachioed second host of “Jeopardy.” In the thirty years he made his home in the area, many famous people bought and sold secluded homes in the rustic and affluent neighborhood that’s discreetly tucked into a meandering glade at the northern terminus of Laurel Canyon. A short list of the many high-profile folk who currently own homes in Fryman Canyon includes Teri Hatcher, Leah Rimini, George Clooney, and “Survivor” host Jeff Probst, who owns a big estate once owned by Gene Autry.
Altogether, Trebek’s nearly 1.5-acre spread has five (and potentially several more) bedrooms and seven bathrooms, plus four more powder rooms, divided between the four-bedroom main house and fully self-contained one-bedroom and one-and-a-half-bath guesthouse, which also includes a single-car garage, a living room with fireplace and a complete kitchen.
The property is available through Trebek’s real estate agent daughter, Emily Trebek, and Renee Ogiens, both with Compass.

Adjoining the kitchen are a walk-in pantry, a separate butler’s pantry, a breakfast room, a family room with fireplace, a sunroom that opens to the gardens.

Just off the media room is a lounge with glitzy brass-accented bar and a couple of powder rooms.

There are numerous terraces, patios and balconies all around the multi-winged mansion, including a veranda off the formal dining room that overlooks the swimming pool. -

Trebek also maintained a low-key lakeside getaway near Paso Robles, Calif., about 30 acres of rolling oak-strewn hills on the meandering shore of Lake Nacimiento, that came up for sale in early 2019 for almost $1.4 million and sold later in the year for $1.3 million. -
