Actor, model, and veteran entertainment news personality Terrence J, former host of the BET music video countdown show “106 & Park” and, from 2012 to 2015, the co-anchor of “E! News,” would like to find a short-term tenant willing and flush enough to pony up an eye-popping $45,000 a month to rent his fully furnished street art filled contemporary in the foothills above L.A.’s Sherman Oaks community.
Tax records show the seasoned red carpet interviewer, whose more recent professional endeavors include serving as host on a couple of seasons of the MTV matchmaking reality series “Are You the One?” and hosting several handfuls of “Power Confidential,” the official aftershow for the Starz crime drama “Power” — who knew there was even such a thing? — scooped up the three-story hillside home just about six years ago for $2.6 million.
Described in listings held by independent agent Theana Vasdekis as an “ultra modern estate,” the just over 4,600-square-foot home sits high on a hillside parcel with four en-suite bedrooms and five bathrooms. A fifth bedroom, also en suite, has been converted to a leather sofa-ed media room complete with a popcorn popper and a giant TV above a gas fireplace.
A glass railed staircase descends from the upper level entry into the adjoining double height dining room and living room, the latter dominated by a black stone fireplace and filled with light thanks to a towering wall of windows. The kitchen is just off the dining room, while a glass-railed loft above the dining and living rooms, where there are a handful of Be@arbrick collectible toys on display, includes a DJ set up.
Designed for relaxing and exercising, the backyard sits below the house with a lighted sport court and an outdoor kitchen and grilling area alongside the saltwater swimming pool and spa.
While the asking price for the short-term lease is unquestionably high, it’s not the highest priced home currently available in Sherman Oaks. That crown goes to an only slightly larger five-bedroom home about two miles away that’s saddled with a $75,000 a month price tag.
Involved in a hit and run incident a few years ago in which his $200,000 McClaren was totaled, tax records indicate J added to his property holdings earlier this year with the almost $1.35 million purchase of a Santa Fe-style estate in a picayune gated enclave in the desert resort community of La Quinta, about 25 miles southeast of Palm Springs. Listing details for the close-to 1.25-acre spread show that the 5,200-square foot property encompasses a three-bedroom and 3.5 bath main house and, on the other side of the swimming pool and spa set amid lush gardens, a spacious one-bed/one-bath guesthouse complete with a large gym and an entertainment lounge with wet bar.
