After three years of ownership, and a stint on the rental market for $75,000 per month, Sandra Lee’s Malibu residence has now popped up for sale. The Emmy-winning TV chef/cookbook author has listed her oceanfront getaway for $7.5 million — or around $4 million more than she originally paid for the place. It’s also available for long-term lease at a reduced $42,500 per month.
Lee acquired the coastal digs in November 2019, shortly after splitting with longtime partner Andrew Cuomo and moving out of the suburban New York residence she had shared with the disgraced former governor. Built way back in the 1940s, but extensively glammed up to suit her personal tastes during her tenure, the private home features three bedrooms and an equal number of baths in over 1,700 square feet of single-level living space providing sweeping views of the Queen’s Necklace, Palos Verdes and Catalina Island.
Especially standing out is a spacious formal living room resting beneath a vaulted wood-beam ceiling, and sporting a floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace and accordion-style glass doors spilling out to an expansive veranda. A formal dining room has a soaring back-lit wine display, and the gourmet kitchen is decked out with an eat-in island topped by a rock crystal chandelier, top-tier appliances and a breakfast nook overlooking a tree-lined garden.
Other highlights include an office and a fireside master retreat, which comes complete with an ocean-view deck flaunting not one but two fire-pits, as well as a spa-inspired bath equipped with a soaking tub, marble-clad steam shower and walk-in closet; and outdoor amenities range from a grassy courtyard bolstered by a mature oak tree, to an al fresco living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. Lee, 56, is a Food Network alum best known for her “semi-homemade” approach to cooking with 70 percent pre-packaged products and 30 percent fresh items. In addition to her beach house, the California native also owns a modest home in Van Nuys that she acquired in 2019.
