In the spare, simply furnished step-down living room, French doors open to the backyard and a marble-floored wine cellar is on display behind a sheet of glass.

The ample dining area flows easily into the kitchen where solid-quality up-to-date stainless steel appliances stand out against snow-white Shaker-style cabinets. Huge picture windows in the adjoining breakfast area provide a cinematic view that sweeps overs a good chunk of the sprawling San Fernando Valley.

Tile floors and a whitewashed cathedral ceiling keeps things airy and cool in the spacious family room where several sets of French doors make a seamless connection to the outdoors and allow for soft breezes to blow through.

A main floor guest suite opens to the backyard and includes a fitted walk-in closet and a roomy bathroom with a marble-topped double vanity and a shower sheathed in pale-grey tiles.

Upstairs, another of the en suite guest bedrooms is furnished as a home office with balcony access and a glittery chandelier.

Next to the pool and just outside the kitchen and family room, there’s a built-in grilling area and, on grassy plateau above the pool, a black-stone patio with a built-in fire pit is surrounded by built-in banquette seating.

Mostly hidden by trees and nestled up on the rugged hillside behind the pool are several, raised bed planters for growing herbs and vegetables. Wire mesh keeps critters from snatching up tomatoes.

There’s a second fire pit (and a prominent water feature) on another black-stone terrace at the front of the house, where it has pretty and relaxing city lights and sunset views.
