He shot to worldwide attention in 2020 with the release of his very explicit debut mixtape “F*ck Love,” led by smash hit single “Without You.” And since then, the Kid Laroi‘s fame has only heightened. “Stay,” the 19-year-old’s 2021 collaboration with fellow pop phenom Justin Bieber, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven non-consecutive weeks, and he is currently managed by heavyweight music mogul Scooter Braun.
With his career on fire, Laroi has relocated to Los Angeles from his native Australia. After renting in Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates neighborhood for a time, records indicate he quietly bought his own place last year, tucked away in the Encino hills. Set within a discreet guard-gated community, the bonafide mansion offers more than 6,000 square feet of living space on its half-acre lot.
Laroi’s new house also sports something of a rockstar-adjacent pedigree. It was sold to him by Perla Hudson, the ex-wife of legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash. Hudson appears to have done quite well for herself on this deal; she bought the house in 2017 for $3.5 million and sold it to Laroi five years later for a much-increased $5.5 million.
Of course, Hudson did give the place a very extensive and expensive renovation, transforming the somewhat matronly home into a slick bonanza of high-end finishes and contemporary decor. Most everything has been painted a crisp black and white, though there are also vibrant pops of color — Irish green couches, mauve curtains — scattered here and there.
Originally built in 1991, the mansard-roofed, French Normandy-inspired house is fully walled and gated for extra privacy. Behind mature trees and a grassy lawn, the structure offers an open floorpan headlined by a double-height entryway and curvaceous main staircase. There’s a second staircase in the living room, which also comes equipped with a marble fireplace and is serviced by a snazzy wet bar.
Various other highlights include an all-new kitchen with acres of countertop space, a family room with a stacked-stone fireplace, a dining room with approximately 10,000 Elvis wallpaper heads and an upstairs master retreat with a sitting area, private balcony and a decidedly decadent bathroom. There are four more bedroom suites scattered throughout the two-story home, though arguably the property’s best attribute are its lovely views of the very green surrounding hills.
And for entertaining, the backyard swimming pool is surrounded by a variety of decks and covered patios, while walls of glass help blur the line between indoor and outdoor living in a quintessentially Southern California manner.
