Over the summer, Miley Cyrus sold her big Nashville estate for nearly $15 million. Records now reveal that the pop singer’s wrecking ball has swung her back into Malibu, the same seaside town where she famously lived during her marriage to Liam Hemsworth. But this time, Cyrus will be making a fresh residential start via a freshly rehabbed new home with impressive ocean views.
Built in 1999, the mansion-sized Malibu house weighs in with north of 6,500 square feet encompassing six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and one powder room. The house is additionally tucked away in a gated community up in the hills, behind a long driveway on a big lot that spans nearly 1.5 acres. There’s an attached garage with room for three cars, plus a motorcourt with space for several more. According to tax records, the property last sold in 2018 for $5.8 million and was leased out in recent years.
The Mediterranean villa-style structure is uniformly white and bright throughout, with contemporary features like recessed LED lights and sizable windows that flood the interiors with natural light. A two-story entryway spills into what the listing describes as “three entertaining rooms” — a fireplace-equipped living room, formal dining room and a billiard room with a pool table. The kitchen is well-equipped to service all three of these spaces, as it’s outfitted with premium stainless appliances, durable granite countertops and a butler’s pantry flaunting numerous storage possibilities, and the adjacent family room includes another fireplace and direct access to a terrace with whitewater views.
Upstairs, the primary suite offers a fireplace, sitting area and a bathroom with a built-in tub, plus a private balcony with more panoramic vistas. All five of the guest bedrooms sport ensuite baths, and at least one of them could easily be converted into an executive office or cozy home gym.
Most of the home’s main rooms have glass sliding doors that open to the estate’s wraparound lawns and lush gardens. Out back, the heated swimming pool is joined by a raised spa and a sizable concrete patio ideal for sunbathers. And while secluded, the property remains only a few minutes’ drive from some of Malibu’s best shopping and dining destinations.
Presumably Cyrus, who is a big fan of colorful homes, will give the Malibu pad a thorough interior renovation to make it as groovy as the local neighborhood’s vibes, where some of her nearest new neighbors include fellow music superstars Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga.
In addition to her just-sold Nashville ranch and new Malibu digs, Cyrus recently owned a chic home in guard-gated Hidden Hills, though that property was sold last year at a big profit to a non-famous couple. The Tennessee native, 29, still maintains a multimillion-dollar mansion in the hills of L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood that she bought nearly a decade ago.
