Even while spending time over the summer in the South of France, and then camping out in Paris, where he’s currently co-starring in “Les Grande Ambitions” at Théâtre de la Madeleine, U.S.-based French singer, songwriter, and budding actor Matthieu Tota, more commonly known to fans, including his 3.1 million Instagram followers, as M. Pokora and/or Matt Pokora, has kept his stateside real estate merry-go-round spinning at a rapid clip.
Not even a year ago, about a year after he and his then girlfriend, American actress and pop star Christina Milian, had their first baby —they’ve since officially tied the knot and had a second child, Pokora sold his contemporary home on L.A.’s Mulholland Drive, near the top of Laurel Canyon, for nearly $3.3 million and concurrently shelled out $3.15 million for an almost 8,000-square-foot castle-like 1980s suburban home in Agoura Hills, about 30 heavily trafficked miles out of Beverly Hills.
Apparently, however, suburban life didn’t agree so much with Pokora and Milian because the estate was back up for sale just five months later. Now, at the same time the Agoura Hills spread has been sold for $3.466 million, Pokora has plopped down $4.3 million for a brand-spanking new but not-quite-as-large and much more contemporary four-bedroom and five-and-a-half-bath home in the trendy Beverly Grove area in the heart of West Hollywood.
The nearly 5,000-square-foot home includes lots of jazzy features, such as an office/study behind floor-to-ceiling sheets of glass — with an attached bath, the room is easily converted to a fifth bedroom, a state-of-the-art seven-seat home theater with projection system, and a glassed-enclosed wine display cabinet tucked into a triangular space below the stairs.
Pale, wide-plank wooden floorboards add natural warmth to the crisply contemporary home where, in the great room, the dining area spills out to courtyard patio with fire pit, while the living room flows out to a compact, faux-grassed backyard that squeezes in a partly shaded lounging deck, plus a smaller deck for sunbathing, a small outdoor kitchen with grill, and a plunge-sized swimming pool and spa.
Upstairs, three guest bedrooms, each with private bath, are joined by and a primary suite replete with two spacious walk-in closets and a spa-style bath that includes a fireplace opposite a dedicated hair and makeup vanity. A small second-floor lounge opens to a small terrace where a corkscrew staircase winds up to a roof-top terrace that offers a fire pit, built-in banquette seating, and wrap around views over the neighborhood. Fortunately for boozy stiletto wearers and anyone carrying food up from the kitchen or toting other heavy, difficult to juggle items, an elevator conveniently services the roof terrace as well as the two floors below.
Amid all the baby making and real estate transactions, the couple have also maintained busy professional lives: Pokora’s most recent album, “Pyramide,” his 8th studio record, reached the top of the French charts when it was released in the spring of 2019;Milian appeared in the 2019 Netflix romcom “Falling Inn Love,” which was filmed entirely in New Zealand; and earlier this year she hosted the limited online cooking series “Eat the Book.”
The property was listed with Or Brodsky and Shay Brodsky of the Or Brodsky Group at Compass, while Pakora and Milian were handled by Alex Duk at Harcourts Beverly Hills.
