It first hit the market in 2022, amid significant fanfare, but it took nearly a year and several price chops before this ultra-cool Los Angeles time capsule officially sold to Laura Pergolizzi, best known to fans simply as “LP.” The “Lost on You” singer and songwriter — who has penned tunes for the likes of Cher, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna — now holds the deed to a slick midcentury modern near the Cahuenga Pass area of Hollywood Hills.
The seller is executive producer Logan Levy (“Billionaire Boys Club,” “Dallas Buyers Club”), who doled out almost $1.4 million for the place back in late 2018. After languishing on the market since spring 2022 — initially with a $3.2 million ask — the listing price was reduced numerous times before ultimately selling to LP at a hefty discount.
Tucked away behind walls and gates, on a flat parcel spanning less than a quarter-acre of land, the three-bedroom, four-bath house was built in the early 1950s for Cecil B. DeMille’s boom operator Cecil Gardiner and his wife Mary Jane. Designed by USC School of Architecture student Alvin H. Galpert, and since thoughtfully maintained and updated, the post-and-beam structure features just over 2,100 square feet of single-level living space boasting slate and wood cork floors, tongue-and-groove ceilings, wood-paneling, built-ins and clerestory windows, plus large expanses of glass for seamless indoor-outdoor environs.
A covered entryway tops the bright-blue front door, which opens into a foyer. From there, a family room includes an integrated seating area sporting a marigold-hued sofa and a wet bar-equipped living room is highlighted by a brick-inlay fireplace. A dining area abuts the vintage-style kitchen, which comes complete with orange Formica countertops, a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, mint-condition Western Holly oven and cabinetry embellished with antique chrome hardware.
All of the bedrooms are sequestered in a separate wing, including a spacious primary suite with access to a walk-in closet, as well as a bath displaying dual vanities and a soaking tub. A bonus room with an infrared sauna opens to the freshly redone backyard, which hosts a pool and spa surrounded by an Ipe wood sundeck, along with a pergola for al fresco dining. There’s also a one-car garage outfitted with a new electric charger.
