After a lengthy slog on the market, Iggy Azalea has succeeded in unloading her ranch-style home in Los Angeles. The suburban spread went for $5.8 million, well under her $6.2 million asking price but also significantly above the $5.2 million she paid only one year ago.
While it may disappoint fans, the new owner is not Colleen Ballinger, the YouTube sensation and comedian behind the popular “Miranda Sings” character. Rather, records reveal the all-cash buyer is a non-famous woman from California’s Silicon Valley.
Rumors of Ballinger’s buy began to spread last month, when Ballinger posted a YouTube video entitled “HOUSE HUNTING AT CELEBRITY HOUSES!!!” In it, she describes touring the for-sale home of a “celebrity musician” and finding that celebrity “sitting in the kitchen” during her walk-through, though the celebrity “completely ignored” Ballinger.
Though Ballinger never actually identified the homeowner by name, fans quickly deduced she was talking about Azalea, who was still living at the Hidden Hills property as of last month.
Ballinger already owns a $3.5 million Encino home, but it’s no secret that the Azusa Pacific University grad and her actor husband Eric Stocklin would like to substantially upsize their residential circumstances. For the last three years or so, off and on, they’ve been looking to drop millions on a big new San Fernando Valley mansion, though the couple apparently has not yet found anything to their liking. There’s also a good chance the celebrity run-in did not help endear them to the Hidden Hills property — Ballinger described her Azalea encounter as “really awkward” and “so weird.”
In any case, someone actually did like Azalea’s former home, which has four bedrooms and 3.5 baths in 5,200 square feet of living space. There’s also a detached guesthouse behind the main house with an extra bedroom and bathroom, plus a sizable living area and a full kitchen.
Shari Huntington and Tyler Van Patten of Coldwell Banker Realty held the listing; Jami Arami of Compass repped the buyer.
