Grammy-winning songwriter/record producer Finneas O’Connell — probably best known as the older brother of music superstar Billie Eilish — has spent $4.6 million for the house immediately right next door to the Spanish Colonial-style residence he bought nearly three years ago for $2.7 million.
Built in 1946, and on the market for the first time in 70 years, the ranch-style spread was last sold in November 1983 for $385,000. The 24-year-old Los Angeles native won the property in an apparent bidding war — paying around $270,000 over the asking price.
The purchase gives him three-quarters of a contiguous acre in a celeb-studded neighborhood, plus two side-by-side homes with a total of seven bedrooms, nine baths and more than 5,500 square feet between them.
Finneas’ newly acquired estate features a main house with three bedrooms and two baths in a little more than 2,900 square feet of living space. Accessory buildings include a guesthouse, game room/cabana and two-car garage.
Highlights in the primary structure include a living room with sliding glass doors that open to a spacious covered terrace, as well as a formal dining room, wood-paneled library/office boasting a brick wood-burning fireplace and built-in bookshelves, and small kitchen with updated appliances.
The one-bedroom guesthouse features a combined living/dining area, galley-style kitchen and bath, while the cabana/game room with a wood-beam ceiling and wet bar could easily serve as an office, studio or gym, per the listing.
As for the park-like backyard, it hosts an Olympic-sized pool resting amid a sundeck sporting a fire-pit, along with several spots ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining, gardens and meandering pathways leading to an old Pickleball court that’s been converted into a flat patch of grass.
In addition to his expanded Los Angeles compound, Finneas also maintains a petite Highland Park bungalow and a Malibu getaway on a sought-after stretch of Las Flores Beach that’s currently on the market for $5.5 million. As for Eilish, she’s still got a luxe horse ranch in Glendale, Calif.
