Billie Eilish Secretly Bought Glendale Horse Ranch From Leona Lewis

Though she’s a global superstar with a net worth widely reported to be well into the tens of millions, Billie Eilish is also still a teenager who lives a quiet life with her parents at their relatively modest home in the Los Angeles suburbs, in the Eastside neighborhood of Highland Park. But that doesn’t mean the 19-year-old songstress has not been investing her money. After all, with an older brother who already owns three pricey L.A. homes, it’s long been suspected that Eilish has her own keen eye for real estate.

And on Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” her recently-released second studio album, she confirms that theory with lyrics more personal and raw than any of her prior music. Nowhere is that more apparent than on “NDA” (an acronym for “non-disclosure agreement”), the album’s 13th track and fifth single. The song references Eilish’s difficult love life as a celebrity — having to make a “pretty boy” sign “an NDA.” More surprisingly, the track also openly reveals that the L.A. native “bought a secret house when I was seventeen.”

These days, anonymously buying a property is difficult anywhere, but it’s practically impossible in Hollywood — and particularly so for someone who is now one of the world’s most famous musicians. But while a deep dive into realty records doesn’t necessarily prove anything, an assortment of clues seems to confirm that Eilish did, in fact, quietly buy a home back in 2019.

And all the clues point directly at one specific property, a bucolic equestrian estate in the unlikely suburban town of Glendale, Calif., only about 10 minutes northwest (via car) of Highland Park. For one thing, the property was sold by another music star — “X Factor” winner Leona Lewis, best known for her 2009 global #1 smash “Bleeding Love” — and the deal closed way sold back in October 2019 for about $2.3 million, according to property records. (At that time, Eilish was still 17 years old.)

The sale was widely reported by media outlets due to the seller’s fame, though the buyer was never publicly identified. Records show the property is currently registered to a mysterious trust linking back to an office in a New York City building — the very same office, it turns out, where Eilish’s longtime business managers are based. It’s also worth noting that the anonymous buyer was repped in their purchase by a realtor who has previously worked with Eilish’s brother Finneas.

Best of all, the estate is zoned for horses and has its own four-stall stables, tack room, arena and feed room — and anyone familiar with Eilish knows that horses and equestrian riding are two of her “favorite things in the world,” as she’s said on several occasions. (But she refuses to disclose whether she actually owns a horse, for what that’s worth.)

Supremely private, the property is well hidden on a inconspicuous cul-de-sac with the house invisible from the street, fortified behind massive 10-foot gates and an even taller hedge. There’s also an extensive security system, naturally, and brick pillars topped by scary-looking lion sculptures. Beyond the gates, there’s a 2,100-square-foot, single-story ranch house that was built in the ’50s but updated since, plus a separate guesthouse and a horse-keeper’s apartment, a goat pen and paddock.

Lewis bought the place in 2013 and put lots of work into upgrading the amenities, including a stunningly remodeled swimming pool with its own sunken conversation pit and a Baja sundeck. The main house has three bedrooms and three baths, plus hardwood floors throughout and foldaway glass doors that allow for an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. There’s also a new-ish kitchen with high-quality stainless appliances and white Shaker cabinets.

Nowadays, Glendale is primarily known for a few things: for being home to a delicious branch of L.A.’s famed Porto’s Bakery, for its huge ethnically Armenian population — one of the largest outside Armenia itself — and the Glendale Galleria, a massive shopping mall where Eilish filmed her “Therefore I Am” music video. But many folks don’t know there are at least 800 horse-zoned properties in the city, estates just like Eilish’s new digs — some of the last remaining bastions of a Kentucky-esque, countryside lifestyle right near central Los Angeles.
