It’s been less than a year since she dropped $13.7 million on a Hollywood Hills mansion and quickly spent another $6.7 million for a Montecito estate, but Ariana Grande is back on the real estate prowl once again — records reveal the international pop priestess has paid $8.9 million for a third property, this one located just a quick skip away from her main residence in L.A.’s Bird Streets.
Because the deal was finalized off-market and the house never publicly offered for sale, details and photos are few. But tax records show the property consists of three contiguous parcels of land that cling to a steep hillside, with vertigo-inducing vistas. The only current structure on the lot is a low-slung cottage that was built in 1946 and spans less than 1,600 square feet of living space, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Undisputably the home’s most unique feature is its ultra-private setting, as it sits behind a very long gated driveway. The entire property is invisible from the public road behind tall hedges and trees, although from its hillside perch the house has great views over the bustling Sunset Strip, West Hollywood, and beyond.
Records also reveal the estate was owned by its original owner for decades before being acquired, in 2011, by an investor who paid just $2.3 million for the premises. The buyer wisely held onto the place for a full decade before flipping it to Grande, nearly quadrupling their money in the process — before taxes, holding costs, realtor fees, and the costs of any improvements made, of course.
With its .74-acre lot — a rare amount of land in the tightly-packed Hollywood Hills — the property has ample space for a sizable new mansion with sweeping views of the Los Angeles city skyline. Although it’s entirely possible Grande might opt to convert the existing cottage into a music studio or ballgown storage facility, the high price paid strongly suggests she wanted it for the creation of a new dream estate. That dream can easily come true, particularly since its 27-year-old dreamer reportedly raked in $72 million last year alone.
