Living above L.A.’s always bustling, and ever trendy Sunset Strip is not for the financially pinched or, for that matter, just about anyone who isn’t, well, pretty darn rich. A single-family fixer in the popular mountainside neighborhood will easily set a buyer back a couple million bucks and renting a snazzy home that will both accommodate a big family and drop the jaws of visiting friends and family isn’t necessarily any more affordable.
Case in point, a six-bedroom and seven-bath city-view contemporary show palace just above the increasingly glitzy western end of the Sunset Strip that Alexander Grant Junior, better known professionally by the cheeky and not exactly professional sounding pseudonym Alex da Kid, picked up not quite a year ago for $7.6 million and now has back up for rent with Mary Swanson of Compass at a bank account blistering $40,000 per month.
The British musician, songwriter, and record producer, who’s long made his home base in the City of Angels, has earned seven Grammy nominations for writing pop ditties and/or producing albums for the likes of Nicki Minaj, Imagine Dragons, B.o.B., and Eminem. But the multi-hyphenate creative powerhouse doesn’t stop at just writing and producing songs.
Under his KIDinaKORNER brand he runs a music label, a publishing company and a creative agency, and he’s long made his own music. Last year, he released a jazz album (“OOO CHANNEL BLACK”) under the name by.ALEXANDER and launched his own luxury fashion label, _by.ALEXANDER. (The brand’s debut collection of 19 unisex pieces used model Irina Shayk and wacky actor Gary Busey in its editorial campaigns.)
Rising behind towering hedges, like a vertical cliff above the slender curving street on which it sits, the remarkably lengthy three-story contemporary residence sprawls across more than 6,200 square feet with high ceilings and walls of glass that fill the house with light and facilitate an easy back and forth between indoor and outdoor spaces.
