Although it was never on the market, records reveal Adele has forked out $10 million for the 90210 home of her close friend — and longtime next door neighbor — Nicole Richie. The English-born music superstar and the American media personality have shared a property line since 2016, when Adele paid $9.5 million for a stately residence within an exclusive gated enclave that’s also notably home to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lawrence and Katy Perry.
The price Adele paid for the property represents a big win for Richie and her husband Joel Madden, who shelled out “just” $6.7 million for the home back in 2015. Built in 1957, the house has been renovated and expanded since; today, the place has a decidedly traditional exterior, though the structure itself is unconventionally long and narrow. Tucked high into the mountains above Beverly Hills, the Coldwater Canyon property is just a 10 minute jaunt to the Beverly Hills hotel or the Sunset Strip — traffic allowing, of course.
Because the house was never on the market, photos and concrete details are scant. But tax records indicate there are about 5,500 square feet of living space, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The mini-mansion wraps around a park-like backyard, where a big grassy lawn is accented by stone pavers leading to a stone patio. Inset into the patio are a freeform swimming pool and separate spa, both of them dark-bottomed and presumably saltwater.
The corner lot property also includes a discreetly attached garage set out of sight from the main entrance, plus a big privacy hedge that blocks out most of the house from the street. And tucked into the estate’s northeast end is a half-court basketball court, ideal for sports lovers.
No word yet about where Richie and Madden are moving, but Adele is still clearly busy building her Beverly Hills-adjacent empire. In addition to the $10 million former Richie digs and her $9.5 million main residence next door, the “Chasing Pavements” songstress also owns the $10.7 million house directly across the street, which is widely believed to be occupied by her ex-husband Simon Konecki.
