Though his updated Hancock Park house only just popped up for sale, Jon Favreau has already found a new place to call home, opting for an impressive red brick Colonial on a prime street in the historic Windsor Square neighborhood.
Records show the “Pod Save America” co-host and Crooked Media co-founder doled out a smidge under $10 million for the stately residence, well under its original listing price of nearly $14 million. The seller was Oscar-winning producer Michael Sugar and his wife Lauren, who paid subprime car loan mogul Don Hankey $9 million for the property in winter 2018.
Built for produce wholesaler Thomas O’Neill over a century ago, way back in 1914, and designed by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the premises have since undergone an extensive renovation. There are tile and hardwood floors, coffered ceilings, intricate moldings and stone accents throughout, plus modern amenities like a wet bar-equipped billiard room, mirrored gym, movie theater and Crestron home-automation system.
Sited on almost a half-acre parcel of land, and fronted by an extra-wide walkway passing through a manicured lawn on its way up to a portico-topped front door, the white stucco-trimmed structure is adorned with a trio of dormer windows at its apex. Once inside, a little more than 10,800 square feet of three-level living space is introduced via a soaring foyer punctuated by a crystal chandelier, wraparound staircase and separate lounge area flowing out to a covered terrace.
Other highlights include a formal living room boasting a fireplace, as well as a gourmet kitchen decked out with marble countertops, bespoke cabinetry, an eat-in island, and high-end Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances. A separate butler’s pantry connects to a blush-hued formal dining room, while an adjoining fireside family room is lined with glass.
The upper floor holds a sizable master retreat, which has a fireplace, balcony, expansive walk-in closet, and marble-clad bath with dual vanities and a soaking tub. Elsewhere is a library/office space; and outdoors, the lushly landscaped grounds are spotlighted by a large rectangular pool and spa, fire-pit, built-in barbecue and children’s playhouse. A detached two-car garage is crowned by a guesthouse.
