Lest anyone suffer the illusion that social media can’t be incredibly lucrative for a bro approaching forty, 37-year-old crypto-dabbling YouTuber, author, and podcaster Mike Majlak recently shelled out 220 Ethereum, about $700,000, for an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club and still had enough bread left over to plunk down more than $4.1 million — a whopping $325,000 above the asking price — for an updated midcentury home in the upscale foothills above L.A.’s popular Studio City.
Majlak, whose YouTubes don’t rack up as many millions of views as they once did, and who might be best known nowadays as co-host of the weekly “imPaulsive podcast with Logan Paul and George Janko, had been holed up with the so-called Clout Gang in an extravagant $80,000 per month rented Toluca Lake compound that had once been leased by Justin Bieber. Alas, that short-lived content house came to an end last year and, after a short stint in what he called the Hollywood Trap House, Majlak soon decided it was high-time to stop bouncing around and put down some multimillion-dollar roots.
While the social media veteran, who bills himself as an “ex-poet. ex-junkie. burger taster.”, opted for a modestly sized 3,000-square-foot home, the four-bedroom and three-and-a-half-bath single-story spread doesn’t scrimp on clean-lined high-end finishes and luxury amenities.
There’s a climate-controlled wine cellar encased in glass to impress guests as they come through front door, and a huge bank of windows in the sun-flooded great room slips into the walls for a seamless transition to the saltwater swimming pool.
A linear fireplace flanked by built-ins anchors the living area, the kitchen is juiced up with polished marble counters and premium designer appliances, and the main bedroom spills out to the backyard through a pair of disappearing banks of glass. The property’s rim-side perch allows for 180-degree mountain and city views.
Ceilings soar to 12 feet, cabinetry throughout is custom-milled white oak, and a surround sound system pumps music throughout the property. Other high-end highlights include an integrated home-automation system and camera-equipped security system.
The listing was jointly held by David Parnes and James Harris of The Agency, as well as Christina Collins of Hilton & Hyland; Majlak was represented in the deal by Michelle Saniei Lally and Jesse Lally of The Beverly Hills Estates.
