Steven Tyler’s Daughter Lists Secluded Laurel Canyon Mini-Compound

After nearly four years of ownership, New York-based Mia Tyler has decided to sell her West Coast outpost in the Laurel Canyon enclave of Hollywood Hills, hoisting the place onto the market for just under $2 million.

Probably best known as the daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, and also the paternal half-sister of actress Liv Tyler, the 43-year-old New Hampshire native has managed to carve out a successful career of her own — as a model, actress, author, visual artist, fashion designer, talent manager and music promoter, just to name a few of her many talents.

Described as a mini-compound — and “enjoyed by a long legacy of musicians and artists living and playing within its walls,” per the listing — the Spanish-style residence has a two-story main house with two bedrooms and two baths, and a lower-level guest apartment holding another bedroom, a full bath and kitchen. A separate casita that previously served as a recording studio comes complete with a bath sporting a clawfoot tub.

Built in the late 1920s, the stucco and terracotta-roof structure rests behind a wall and gate on a quiet cul-de-sac, and features a total of 1,166 square feet of living space. Period details can be found throughout, including wood-beam ceilings, custom Mission tile, arched doorways, steel-cased windows and French doors, and newly refinished bamboo floors.

Tyler purchased the 0.14-acre property in June 2018 for $1.7 million, and has since added her own personal touches to the premises. Especially standing out is a cozy living room boasting a wood-burning fireplace with a tiled mantle, and a dining area connecting to a colorful gallery-style kitchen topped by a skylight, and outfitted with a vintage O’Keefe & Merritt stove.

The primary suite has a walk-in cedar closet, as well as a tile-clad bath equipped with a tub and freestanding shower; and though they’re compact, the nicely amenitized grounds host a spacious flagstone courtyard, fire-pit, hot tub, and numerous spots ideal for al fresco dining and lounging.
