It was only a year ago that then just 18 years old Cuban-born and Miami-based singer and social media heavy hitter Malú Trevejo, beloved by her legions of stans as much for her back-breaking twerking as for her bilingual singing abilities, gleefully announced to her 11.5 million Instagram followers that she’d gone and bought her dream house.
Now, the 19 year old, who tools around in a purple Benz, has decided it’s already time to sell her dream house, putting the celeb-pedigreed pad in suburban Plantation, Fla., just west of Fort Lauderdale, on the market at $3.25 million, exactly a million bucks more than she paid.
P.S. Just because you may have never heard of Trevejo does not mean she isn’t a bona fide pop culture phenom. To wit: She has 24.4 million TikTok followers; her first single (“Luna Llena”) has chalked up 122 million YouTube views; her overtly risqué recent single (“Culo Chapa”) has already racked up more than 6.3 million views; and on the day of her 18th birthday, in 2020, she created an Onlyfans page and in less than a week reportedly hauled in several hundred thousand dollars.
Custom built in 2009 by five-time Grammy nominated rapper Fat Joe, who unloaded the five-bedroom and four-and-a-half-bath neo-Mediterranean sprawler more than a decade ago for about $1.2 million, the 5,100-square-foot home sits securely behind gates on an acre of palm tree-dotted grounds.
Being a teenager who had not yet amassed a houseful of furniture, Trevejo purchased much of the furnishings in the house, including some glitzy Fendi-brand accoutrement. Listings held by Summer Sawaya and Chad Bishop, both of One Sotheby’s International Realty, show the home features a ton of custom features, such as a mother-of-pearl accent wall in the living room, smoked mirrors on one wall of the formal dining room, and designer appliances in the sleek kitchen.
Other highlights include soaring ceilings, polished stone floors with dark wood inlay, and a 10-seat home theater with ivory leather recliners. With a walk-in closet and spa bath, the mostly single-level home’s spacious primary suite is just off the living room, while the second floor is devoted to a self-contained guest or staff suite that’s complete with private bath and full kitchen.
Designed for active recreation and low-key entertaining, the backyard’s double-height loggia overlooks a circular spa that spills into a rectangular swimming pool. To one side of the pool is a faux-grass putting green and on the other, a bright red sport court.
Turns out, Trevejo’s Plantation property isn’t the only million-dollar house she owns and would like to sell. About four months ago, she shelled out $1.1 million for a five-bedroom contemporary home in an upscale gated enclave in Doral, Fla., about 20 miles west of South Beach. The house was briefly made available as a rental, at a whopping $9,000 per month, before Trevejo moved in and then, likety-split, caught a classic case of the Real Estate Fickle and flipped the property back on the market last month at $1.25 million. Lucky for her, the property is already pending sale, and no doubt she’ll twerk her earnings all the way to the bank.
