Over the summer, Balthazar Getty unloaded his Nichols Canyon-area home for $8.4 million, a big number for the neighborhood. The Getty Oil heir turned retired Hollywood actor (“Lord of the Flies,” “Lost Highway,” “Alias,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Charmed”) and his fashion designer wife Rosetta Millington Getty had been trying to sell the place for years, initially for as much as $10.5 million.
As it turns out, the buyer is also famous — he’s Jay Shetty, the English former Hindu monk who in recent years has become a major influencer and life coach, with a hugely successful podcast (“On Purpose”) that’s been downloaded tens of millions of times. He’s been featured on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and has a YouTube channel with more than four million subscribers and nearly 200 million lifetime views, and he’s married to Radhi Devlukia, an English chef and well-known influencer in her own right.
Shetty and Devlukia previously lived in a rented house in the hills above L.A.’s Beachwood Canyon, where they frequently entertained high-profile guests and filmed various videos for their social media channels. That contemporary estate spans more than 6,200 square feet of living space, directly overlooking Lake Hollywood.
Spanning just under three-quarters of an acre, the Shetty-Getty property originally held a 1950s modern home that was demolished and completely rebuilt in 2014, into an all-new compound with a main residence and separate guesthouse. The contemporary villa has panoramic city and mountain views via walls of glass, and there are about 6,600 square feet of living space between the two structures, with eight bedrooms and 9.5 baths. The estate itself is sited well out of sight, behind a long gated driveway on its own private knoll.
The property was jointly listed with Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates; Hilton & Hyland’s Jonah Wilson repped the buyers.
