After barely a year of ownership, Emma Chamberlain is officially done with West Hollywood. Or at least she’s done with her “starter” house, a boxy contemporary on one of the more desirable streets in prime WeHo, which has popped back up for sale with a pricetag a hair under $4 million. Even with a full price offer, the YouTube sensation is facing only a $99,000 profit on the home she purchased from MedMen cofounder Andrew Modlin, a slim margin quickly consumed by realtor fees and other closing costs.
Built in 2016 and described in the listing as a “sophisticated architectural showpiece,” the gated house offers more than 4,000-square-feet of living space spread across two full floors, all of it entered via a pivoting metal front door. There are four bedrooms and five full baths, per the listing.
Concrete abounds on the main level, but pops of vibrant color — orange chairs, rich wood bookshelves, canary yellow doors — keep the place from feeling sterile. The ultramodern kitchen is an exercise in minimalism, with sleek Euro-inspired cabinets and integrated designer appliances; the family room opens to the backyard via a massive glass wall.
Also on the main floor are a guest bedroom that currently functions as a library/office, and a living room that opens via floor-to-ceiling glass sliders to a pea gravel side yard.
Upstairs, skylights illuminate a long indoor balcony overlooking the lower level. The ensuite master doesn’t have an outdoor balcony of its own, though it is flooded with natural light. There’s a boutique showroom-sized closet, plus a spa-style bath with freestanding tub.
Though the .15-acre lot is not particularly large, it’s completely flat and nicely landscaped with a grassy lawn, olive trees, and dozens of tall ficus trees that collude to form an impenetrable hedge wall. There’s also a long rectangular pool, ideal for swimming laps.
At the far rear of the property lies a concrete, sculpture-like cabana with a covered sitting area, a fireplace, and a projector; at night, movies can be displayed on the back wall of the structure, so viewers can actually watch a film while floating on an inflatable swan — or whatever the trendy equivalent — in the pool.
Other amenities include a high-tech security system with numerous cameras and alarms, automated blackout window shades, and an upstairs laundry room.
Chamberlain, 19, is one of YouTube’s biggest sensations to emerge over the past few years. Since her 2017 career beginnings, she’s racked up more than 10 million subscribers and 1.3 billion views on her main channel alone. She’s also scored lucrative endorsement deals, including with the likes of Louis Vuitton, and launched the Chamberlain Coffee company.
Casey Winchell of Kennedy Wilson Real Estate holds the listing.
