The whirlwind life of Emma Chamberlain just doesn’t slow down. In less than four years, the breakout YouTuber has transformed from an obscure high school student in California’s Bay Area into the internet’s hottest commodity, a fashion muse and business mogul sporting lucrative brand deals with the likes of Louis Vuitton and Levi’s, 1.4 billion YouTube views, and a successful coffee company.
Along the way, Chamberlain has also acquired some prime real estate. Last year, she bought a sleek West Hollywood mansion that’s already been sold off for a profit, and earlier this year the now 20-year-old paid $4.3 million for a 1950s Benedict Canyon home, high in the mountains above Beverly Hills.
Once owned by both R&B legend Natalie Cole and “Rocky Horror Picture Show” actor Barry Bostwick, the new 90210 digs are undergoing a full-scale renovation that “will take six months,” according to Chamberlain, who still expects to move into the new place before the year’s end. In the meantime, she’s bunking up in the Hollywood Hills, paying a whopping $35,000 per month for a groovy midcentury modern house hovering directly over the Sunset Strip’s western end.
Built in 1961 and sensitively updated, the low-slung house boasts walls of glass that capture L.A.’s sunset views. The vintage-meets-contemporary structure includes a three bedrooms in about 3,000 square feet of living space. Perhaps the home’s most impressive feature is the grand courtyard entry, with its firepit and towering doors; there’s also a proper foyer that spills into a living room with a fireplace wrapped floor-to-ceiling in marble surround. Adjoining the living area is a kitchen with custom cabinets and upgraded appliances. Several al fresco dining areas are sprinkled outside, on the wraparound deck that boasts city lights views. A sparkling pool and tall privacy hedges complete the mini-estate.
