Now that she’s settled into a historic compound in her native Santa Barbara, Colleen Ballinger is finally getting around to putting her old house up for sale. Listed at $3.75 million and touted as “one of the best values in newer construction on the market,” the popular YouTuber’s longtime residence is sure to sell quickly, as it lies in the desirable Encino neighborhood and comes loaded with modern amenities.
Ballinger, 36, first came to internet prominence in the early 2010s through her Miranda Sings comedy character. Over the last decade, she’s racked up more than 5 billion lifetime video views and 22 million subscribers across multiple channels, making her one of YouTube’s most successful creators of all time. Perhaps best known today as one of the platform’s most-watched “mommy vloggers,” Ballinger also created and starred in the Netflix comedy series “Haters Back Off.”
Avid YouTube junkies may recall that Ballinger spent multiple videos crying about leaving this Encino home, despite her Santa Barbara digs being much larger and more expensive. It’s probably no wonder — after buying the brand-new house in late 2015 for $2.5 million, Ballinger spent the next seven years of her life living here, initially with first husband Josh Evans. Eventually she and second husband Erik Stocklin made the place their family home, raising their three young children in spacious comfort. The property was also long occupied by Ballinger’s BFF Kory DeSoto, whom she met while attending Azusa Pacific University.
Freshly staged, gated and armed with a state-of-the-art Crestron home automation system, the Cape Cod-inspired house flaunts an open floorplan, plus five bedrooms and 5.5 baths in 5,000 square feet of luxe living space. The front door opens into a long hallways that joins the kitchen and living, dining and family rooms into a single space, complete with hardwood floors underfoot and soothing neutral colors throughout.
That vast kitchen was Ballinger’s pride and joy and her refuge during the 2020 pandemic. Equipped with Thermador appliances and endless counter space, the catering-ready area is also supported by a walk-in pantry, breakfast room and a “hidden” wine cellar. But it’s the double-height living room, featuring an enormous fireplace and numerous windows, that packs in the most visual pizazz. Both spaces open directly to the home’s backyard.
Upstairs lies the home’s master suite, which offers a fireplace-equipped bedroom, showroom closet, spa-style bath and private balcony. There are three additional bedroom suites upstairs, all of them with access to various other balconies, plus a fifth bedroom downstairs that could be a maid’s room. Fans will recall that Ballinger used one of the upstairs bedrooms as her office and display area, complete with countless pieces of fan art and gifts.
While not especially huge, the backyard is nicely kitted out with a grassy play area, covered loggia for al fresco dining, built-in BBQ center, a so-called “cigar patio” with an outdoor fireplace, and a swimming pool with inset spa and Baja shelf. Also on the premises are an attached two-car garage, motorcourt partking for four additional vehicles and electric window coverings throughout.
