Cody Ko Streams Into Reese Witherspoon’s Former Malibu Getaway

Though Cody Ko’s oceanfront Malibu beach house only just popped up for sale, he’s already picked up the keys to a new home in the same city. The popular YouTuber/podcaster and new wife Kelsey Kreppel have doled out $7.7 million for Reese Witherspoon’s former vacation home, sited in the foothills just above Zuma Beach.

The seller is Meg Haney — the Tennessee-born daughter of Chattanooga real estate billionaire Franklin Haney — who purchased the spread from Witherspoon and ex-husband Jim Toth for $6.7 million back in 2020,  just a year after the couple paid $6.3 million for the bucolic getaway.

Tucked away behind a gated driveway, the nearly 2-acre spread is dotted with mature sycamore trees. Originally built over seven decades ago, back in 1950, the place was extensively modernized and renovated by the previous owners, who operated the property as a wedding venue. Several structures include a main four-bedroom house, and repurposed barn sporting a space for billiards, kitchen with an eat-in island, living/media area, lofty ensuite bedroom and covered porch. Another building currently houses a gym and media room, and there’s also a nifty Airstream trailer that sleeps four, and has its own kitchen, bath and shower.

In addition to a fireside living room sporting a wood-beam ceiling and picture windows, the single-level home is outfitted with a dining room, plus a small eat-in kitchen equipped with high-end stainless appliances and a handy wet bar just around the corner. A primary bedroom is spotlighted by a wallpapered bath with a lilac-hued clawfoot soaking tub; and outdoors, the grassy grounds contain an equestrian paddock, fire-pit, bocce court, hot tub and vine-covered pavilion, along with plenty of spots for al fresco lounging and entertaining.

Married in February 2023, Ko and Kreppel recently sold their architectural compound in Venice’s Silver Triangle for the exact asking price of $4.3 million.
