As fierce storms roared across southern California earlier this week, dumping rain and snow in places that don’t typically see much rain or snow, 31-year-old professional gamer, YouTuber and Twitch streamer Jordan Maron, better known to his legions of fans and followers as CaptainSparklez, shared with his 4.3 million Twitter followers the chunky blanket of hail that fell on the patio table outside the kitchen of his Hollywood Hills home.
Freshly repriced this week at a sliver under $5 million (it popped on the market in December at $5.2 million), CaptainSparklez’s hillside home sits high above the Sunset Strip with canyon-framed views that on clear days extend all the way to the Pacific Ocean. It is, no doubt, a spine-tingling vantage point from which to watch storms rip through.
This isn’t the first time at the real estate rodeo for Maron, who counts 4.5 billon video views and 14 million followers across his 11 YouTube channels, most of whom tune in to watch him play Minecraft. Purchased about five a half years ago for not quite $4.6 million, the millionaire Minecraft maestro attempted to sell the property back in 2020, with an asking price just shy of $4.9 million.
Near the top of a notoriously serpentine road and fronted by a three-car garage, the 11-ish year-old home looks like a simple and modern low-slung affair from the street but, like a mullet hairdo, falls to three glass-walled stories at the back. Clean lined and stripped of fussy or extraneous detailing, just about every room has a huge bank of green-tinted glass that slides open to a balcony or terrace with head-swimming views across the city. There are three bedrooms and five bathrooms throughout the 4,100-square-foot home.
The gas fireplace in the living room is double-sided and shared with an outside dining patio, while wood built-ins provide plenty of storage and display space in the dining area. Along with a well-equipped gym that sports a U-shaped wet bar and a graffiti-style CaptainSparklez logo emblazoned on the wall, Maron’s “home office,” a state-of-the-the-art gaming suite and recording studio, is tucked down on the lowest level.
Outside the gym and gaming suite, a tiled terrace incorporates an outdoor living room, a stainless-steel outdoor kitchen, a sunken spa, and patios for both dining and sunbathing. The most eye-catching feature, however, is the dynamically angled infinity-edge plunge pool that levitates above the surrounding treetops.
The property is available through Rodeo Realty’s Joseph Babajian and Timmy Woods.
