Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith Pay $11.3 Million for All-New Hidden Hills Mansion

They already own at least eight homes scattered across the country. But celebrity power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are still adding to their collection, this time shelling out $11.3 million for a big mansion in Hidden Hills — the guard-gated community that’s famously home to everyone from Drake and Kaley Cuoco to Kylie Jenner and Jeffree Star.

Built new last year on speculation, the two-story house spans more than 10,000 square feet of living space and is described as a “Napa Modern” home in the listing. Completed in early 2020 and built on speculation, the estate had been on the market since June of last year; the Smiths scored the keys for a nearly million-dollar discount off the original $12.2 million asking price.

Privately situated at the end of a discreet cul-de-sac behind a long driveway, the 1.2-acre property sits atop a ridge with views capturing a substantial swath of the San Fernando Valley. Inside, the all-neutral interiors are uniformly contemporary and include a double-height entryway with sightlines through the entire house, an open kitchen with two islands and a big pantry, soundproof movie theater with velvet walls, and a games room with a wet bar. There’s also a gym with its own steam shower, plus a formal dining room with a refrigerated wine closet encased in glass.

All six of the home’s bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms, and the upstairs primary suite additionally offers a fireplace, sitting area, two dressing rooms and a built-in refrigerator and coffee bar. Outside, stone loggias are ripe for al fresco entertaining and spill out to a full outdoor kitchen with BBQ, plus an infinity-edged pool with an inset spa. Also out back are a firepit seating area, a full-size sports court and something the listing refers to as a “serenity lounge.” Somewhat surprisingly, the property does not have a big grassy backyard or even much landscaping at all, beyond trees surrounding the estate’s perimeter. But that should save the Smiths money on maintenance costs, so there’s that.

Presumably the new owners will hire an interior designer to reimagine the mansion’s luxe rooms into something more avant-garde. The couple’s longtime main residence, a $42 million custom mega-estate on the outskirts of Calabasas, was featured in Architectural Digest and has strikingly Moroccan-inspired interiors, with rich colors and eclectic furnishings.

Astute real estate watchers may know that this new acquisition is not the Smith family’s only estate within the guarded Hidden Hills gates. Since 2003, they’ve owned another Hidden Hills property, this one a ranch-style estate on a secluded street long occupied by their son Jaden Smith. And last year, daughter Willow Smith paid $3.1 million for a modern home in the Malibu hills.

The clan also owns homes in Woodland Hills, Calif., in Pennsylvania, and in Maryland. And they’ve got a nearly 10,000-square-foot ski chalet in the winter resort town of Park City, Utah.
