After listing his Beverly Hills Post Office residence last year with no takers — despite a 2018 Dwell cover story touting its outstanding architecture and design — comedian/actor Will Arnett (“Arrested Development”) has once again placed his home on the market at a reduced price of $8 million. For those keeping count, that’s a whopping $3 million less that the 2020 ask of almost $11 million.
If Arnett does bring in $8 million, though, it still will be substantially more than the $2.85 million the six-time Emmy nominee initially shelled out for the Ray Kappe-designed property back in 2013, the year after he split with his now ex-wife Amy Poehler.
Keep in mind, however, it’s since been substantially revamped, with the former house completely done away with and replaced in 2017 by a custom modern prefab structure created by architect Suchi Reddy of Reddymade Architecture and Design in collaboration with the Santa Monica-based prefab company LivingHomes (now Plant Prefab Design Studio) — all in keeping with Kappe’s original modernist design.
Nestled behind wooden gates, and thoroughly secluded from the street by towering trees, the home’s steel, glass and dark-stained cedar exterior is highlighted by a jigsaw-inspired assemblage of stacked modules. Inside, 4,000 square feet of chic living space configured in an L shape gives way to five bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms and seamless indoor/outdoor environs.
Among the highlights: A glass tower housing a staircase that ascends to the master retreat boasting a wall of glass that spills out onto a large deck with stellar canyon views; a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances, striking oak cabinetry, an eat-in peninsula and an adjacent casual dining area with a built-in banquette; an attractive living room that opens via sliding doors to a partially covered deck spanning the entire length of the home; and a guest wing that includes a small recording booth for Arnett’s myriad voiceover projects.
There’s also a library/study that can easily double as a bedroom with a built-in Murphy bed, walk-in closet and bath. And, lastly, the wooded grounds host an infinity-edge pool and spa, along with a cold plunge, sauna and an intimate outdoor seating area with a fireplace.
