Vanessa Hudgens Sells Century-Old Estate to Ronan Farrow, Jon Lovett

Celebrities featuring their own homes in the glossy pages of Architectural Digest is a time-honored tradition appreciated not just by fans, who enjoy seeing how their favorite star lives, but by the stars themselves, who find that a feature can often translate into additional cachet and big profits in the real estate game. Take Adam Levine, who is asking $57 million for his fawned-over Pacific Palisades compound, $25 million more than he paid in 2019.

And the latest example is Vanessa Hudgens, whose historic Los Angeles home was photographed for Architectural Digest less than six months ago; despite never being publicly offered for sale, records show that property has been quietly sold for a hefty $6.7 million.

Hudgens’ now-former home is located in the Los Feliz neighborhood and was built in 1922, reportedly by American cinema pioneer Cecil B. DeMille for his longtime mistress, actress Julia Faye. (The Faye-Hudgens house lies a convenient five-minute drive away from DeMille’s main residence, also located in Los Feliz, which is today owned by Angelina Jolie.)

Hudgens bought the former Faye house in 2018 for $4.9 million from actor Gary Oldman. She subsequently made a number of modifications to the Georgian colonial structure, remodeling the kitchen herself, hiring designer Jake Arnold to give the master bedroom suite a “cave-like” aesthetic,  installing colorful House of Hackney wallpaper in the breakfast nook and adding “super feminine” furnishings throughout the home. But even with those renovations and carrying costs, it seems likely she still walked with a nice profit.

As for the spendy buyers, records certainly suggest they are Jon Lovett, the co-founder of politically liberal-leaning media company Crooked Media — best known for its signature “Pod Save America” podcast — and his longtime partner Ronan Farrow, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist best known for his investigative reporting on the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Farrow is also the son of actress Mia Farrow and Woody Allen.

Lovett and Farrow already own a Los Angeles home, acquired by Lovett in 2018 for about $1.9 million, though it’s significantly smaller than the Los Feliz property. Farrow also keeps a $5.6 million apartment in New York City, on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

No word yet about where Hudgens is moving, but don’t be surprised if the “High School Musical” star’s next residence also also gets a suitably glam, magazine-ready makeover.
