After barely two years of ownership, Taylor Lautner has sold his contemporary mansion in a semi-remote part of Agoura Hills for a hefty $1.5 million profit. But he’s far from homeless; records show the “Twilight” star has used some of his earnings to plunk down $3.9 million for a hacienda-style compound sited in an exclusive gated neighborhood, just a short distance from his former digs.
Lautner’s newly acquired Agoura Hills residence is nestled on an acre-plus parcel of land dotted with fruit trees, perennials and drought-tolerant flowering plants. Originally built in the early 1990s and subsequently “remodeled to perfection,” per the listing, the stucco and terracotta-roof structure is fronted by a wide driveway that passes beneath a grand porte-cochère.
Inside, six bedrooms and seven baths are spread across almost 7,000 square feet of rustic yet elegant living space adorned throughout with soaring ceilings, mosaic tile, ornate wrought-iron details and vintage light fixtures. Large glass doors and windows provide an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, and also overlook the picturesque grounds.
Mosaic-lined brick steps head up to a double wood front door, which opens into an expansive foyer crowned by a coffered ceiling, and displaying a winding staircase. From there, a double-height living room features a fireplace and temperature-controlled, 750-bottle wine room, while a formal dining room lies nearby — with both of the spaces flaunting French doors spilling out to covered al fresco dining and entertaining areas.
A sleekly designed gourmet kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island, high-end Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook connects to a cozy fireside family room leading out to the backyard. Elsewhere on the main level is a wood-clad office and an ensuite bedroom, along with a laundry room sporting dual washers and dryers.
Upstairs, a resplendent master retreat rests under a wood-beam ceiling, and features a fireplace, Juliette balcony and not one but two dressing wings. A luxe marble bath is equipped with heated floors, dual vanities, a clawfoot soaking tub and steam shower; and four additional ensuite bedrooms also can be found on this level.
Definitely not to be missed are the sprawling resort-style grounds, which are anchored by a pool and spa, an entertaining pavilion boasting a Viking barbecue and wine fridge, a greenhouse and numerous spots ideal for relaxing. There are also several ancillary structures, including one holding a billiard table and wet bar.
In addition to his new Agoura Hills mansion, Lautner continues to maintain a 10-acre estate in the community of Castaic, about 40 miles northwest of L.A., that he purchased about a decade ago for $2 million. Cris Epstein of Engel & Voelkers, Westlake Village served as the listing agent, with Lautner repped by Jordan Cohen of Re/Max One.
