After spending much of 2020 quarantining with her beloved rescue dog Tank, prolific actress Sydney Sweeney (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “Sharp Objects,” “Everything Sucks!”) is back on a professional roll, to put it mildly. The Washington state native, 24, has portrayed Cassie Howard in the mega-hit coming-of-age drama series “Euphoria” since 2019, and now she’s cemented her status as one of Hollywood’s most bankable young starlets, appearing alongside Alexandra Daddario and Jennifer Coolidge in HBO’s widely acclaimed “The White Lotus.”
Sweeney has also been busy outside the office, too. The budding producer recently bought her first house, which she described as an “incredible, humbling, amazing accomplishment.” A peek through records reveals the new Sweeney-Tank digs lie in Westwood, the bustling Los Angeles neighborhood perhaps best known for housing the sprawling UCLA campus and for its close proximity to skyscrapers lining Century City and the Wilshire Corridor.
While most of her successful Gen-Z and millennial peers have opted for new construction homes styled in the trendy “modern farmhouse” look, Sweeney is diverging from the young Hollywood crowd to explore a different real estate path. Indeed, she’s selected some historic flavor, throwing it back to pre-war days with a lovingly maintained house that’s nearing its 90th birthday.
Built during the Great Depression and last sold in 1972 for a mind-bending $85,500, the architecturally betwixt and between home is described as a “Tudor traditional” fusion in the listing. While far from pretentious, the residence is plenty spacious, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms in 3,200 square feet. It’s also admirably quiet and private, set atop a tall hill overlooking the street far below. Way below the house, down at street level, there’s a three-car garage building with additional space for storage.
Buyers loved this Westwood property and a bidding war broke out — records show Sweeney paid exactly $3 million for the place, a whopping $305,000 over the asking price.

Luckily, they’ve got two options: exercise aficionados can opt for the long and steep staircase, while everyone else will flock to the convenient funicular, which has “direct access from the garage to the front door,” per the listing.
