And just like that, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are somewhat inexplicably offering their charming guest cottage in Amagansett, N.Y., on Booking.com for a weekend. (Their main house is just across the street!) “I’m thrilled to welcome guests into this little home away from home by the beach and hope the cozy space we’ve created in our Hamptons cottage is just what the doctor ordered,” Parker says on the Booking.com website.
You’ll have to be fast, though, as the cottage will go live for rental at noon (Eastern) on August 23 and it’s first come, first serve. The offered stay will be for the coming weekend only, Friday, August 26, through Sunday, August 28. And the price? $19.98, “the year of my breakout role as Carrie Bradshaw,” Parker elucidates.
The lucky weekenders are invited to partake of the cottage’s bar, fully stocked with Thomas Ashbourne craft cocktails, and the fridge, stocked with an assortment of SJP’s favorite snacks. The renters will also get a pair of SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker pumps, because everyone needs a new pair of pumps for a summer weekend in the Hamptons, right? But that’s not all your twenty bucks will get you! Also included are reservations at hotspot Nick & Toni’s, which are almost impossible to get on a summer weekend — insider tip: order the zucchini chips — as well as at Lobster Roll in Napeague, though most locals swear Clam Bar across the street is better.
You’ll also get a beach day with all the necessities, a visit to Amber Waves Farm, formerly the village’s farmers’ market, and a shopping trip in Amagansett Square, which is across the street from Amber Waves. The stay even includes transportation to and from all the above.
An unassuming cedar-shingled 1940s beach cottage, the house itself is fairly typical for the area. Within its 1,700 square feet are a huge brick fireplace that screams to be painted white, a teensy galley kitchen with what the listing describes as “vintage appliances,” though they appear to be from about 1999, a total of three bedrooms, one with framed nautical signal flags that do not (but maybe should) spell out “SJP”, a single bathroom, and a private backyard to eat, read, or just hang out.
Props to SJP for having such a low-key, non-glitzy, non-Hollywood interior. And have fun, whoever gets to stay there for less than a Jackson! (But seriously, folks, Clam Bar is better!)
