Summer is here and Sandra Bullock is looking to reprise one of her favorite former roles: that of a Los Angeles landlord! The serial property investor and developer has put one of her two Malibu homes up for rent, so if you can stomach a monthly rate of $30,000, these unobstructed whitewater views are yours for the taking. Just make sure to take care of the place, or “Miss Congeniality” might not be so agreeable.
With only two bedrooms and two baths in about 1,300 square feet, the bungalow is small, but it has lots going for it. Originally built in 1958, Bullock has just given the place a thorough contemporary remodel, with wide-plank hardwood floors throughout, and there are walls of glass and a kitchen outfitted with premium Wolf and SubZero appliances. The property is also located within a 24/7 guard-gated community, where some of the other neighbors include Halle Berry and Bullock herself.
Yes, in addition to this cottage, which she acquired in 2020 for $5.3 million, Bullock also owns another house in the same enclave. That larger structure, which is also oceanfront and apparently used by Bullock as a personal vacation home, set her back an impressive $8.5 million.
Other notable amenities here include a walled and gated courtyard with an outdoor dining sectiona, fire-pit, bar seating area and a barbecue. Inside, the combo living/dining room opens via glass sliders to a raised deck ideal for sunbathing. The master bedroom also boasts impressive ocean views and opens to that same deck, while the renovated master bath is kitted out with dual sinks and a built-in soaking tub.
Bullock, 57, has been acting and producing steadily for over 30 years, though the Virginia-born movie star recently announced a break. She has also long been one of Hollywood’s most prolific and successful real estate investors, with no fewer than 15 properties scattered across the United States. Besides the Malibu homes, some of those holdings include a $20 million Beverly Hills estate, a gorgeous ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, a Gothic Victorian mansion in New Orleans, a lakefront compound in Austin, Texas, and a sublime townhouse in New York City.
Chris Cortazzo of Compass holds the Malibu listing.
