She may have successfully cultivated a reputation as America’s sweetheart movie star, but Sandra Bullock is also an astute businesswoman who’s been investing in residential and commercial real estate for decades; today, the Oscar-winning actress (“Bird Box,” “The Blind Side,” “Miss Congeniality”) boasts one of the most eye-popping property portfolios in all of Hollywood. A thorough scrub of U.S. records reveals that through a complicated maze of LLCs and other investment entities, Bullock owns no fewer than 17 properties scattered across the nation, many of them multimillion-dollar homes.
Now in her mid-50s, the Virginia-born star reportedly divides her time between a lakefront mansion in Austin, Texas, a two-house hilltop compound in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a $12 million townhouse in New York City, a Gothic Victorian mansion in New Orleans, and a multi-acre estate tucked up above Beverly Hills. But although it’s previously gone unreported, she’s also spent the last few years plucking up some additional prime real estate in Malibu and Los Angeles.
Beginning in summer 2018, Bullock used three oddly-named entities to acquire three separate properties: one of them in the mountains above Beverly Hills, the other two oceanfront homes within the same guard-gated Malibu community. All three appear to have been acquired without the aid of mortgages; altogether, the trio set her back $16.5 million in cash.
The first acquisition was consummated way back in June 2018, when Bullock paid $8.5 million for a luxe home within a prestigious Malibu enclave, where there are 24/7 guards and neighbors include Halle Berry and “The Lego Movie” producer Jon Burton.

Image Credit: Realtor.com Built in 1979, the 3,700-square foot house offers four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Behind the frosted glass front doors lies an open floorplan with tile floors, sliding glass doors, and a decidedly late ’90s kitchen with dark-stained wood cabinetry, white-veined ebony granite countertops, and a full caboodle of expensive stainless appliances.
Bullock paid $8.5 million for the oceanfront premises using a 1031 exchange, an investment tool that allows an owner to defer capital gains taxes by swapping one investment property for another (Bullock purchased the Malibu home shortly before selling a smaller rental house she owned in the Hollywood Hills.)

Image Credit: Realtor.com In June 2020, records indicate Bullock dropped $5.3 million on another oceanfront property within the same Malibu gated enclave, this one a smaller single-story cottage that lies just a few doors away from the larger $8.5 million structure.
The mint green midcentury cottage spans barely 1,300 square feet with two beds and two baths. Shortly after buying, Bullock put the place up for lease, though it’s unclear if she actually secured a tenant.

Image Credit: Realtor.com The most recent purchase (below) was consummated last month, when records confirm Bullock paid $2.7 million for a showily updated bungalow in a celeb-favored part of the mountains above Beverly Hills.
Built in 1946 and renovated since, the house weighs in at 2,800 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. And though it seems unlikely Bullock will ever spend a night on the premises, there are open living spaces with ebony-stained hardwood floors, a kitchen with stainless appliances, a backyard swimming pool with waterfall, and even a charming English garden-style front yard trimmed with neat rows of boxwood hedges.
