Before they packed up their designer duds and jetted off to France, where they looked dynamite as they walked the red carpets at the Cannes Film Fesitval, low-key Hollywood power couple Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus slashed the asking price of their fashionably dressed 19th-century Manhattan townhouse.
Quietly put up for sale earlier this year at just under $13 million, the asking price now stands at $12.5 million, not too much more than the $11.75 million The Wall Street Journal reported the “Inglourious Basterds” actress, currently starring in the Roku series “Swimming with Sharks,” and “The Walking Dead” star paid for the pristine West Village home about four years ago.
Coupled since 2017, engaged last August, and parents to an imaginatively named toddler daughter, the couple’s Greek-Revival-meets-Italianate residence was restored, renovated, and reconfigured prior to their purchase by innovative design/build firm MADE. Built around 1837 for a dry goods merchant, the four-story house offers original wide-plank wood floors, half a dozen fireplaces, 10-foot ceilings on the parlor floor, and loads of custom millwork throughout.
Sophisticated and elegant yet relaxed and comfortable, the monochromatically outfitted home smoothly marries period details with modern luxuries such as a three-zone central heating and cooling system, in-ceiling speakers, and state-of-the-art security and intercom systems.
The four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, which include a full-floor homeowner’s retreat replete with a fashionista accommodating dressing room and vintage-inspired marble bathroom, are contained within about 3,850 square feet. The home also includes a basement with laundry facilities and storage, along with a landscaped roof terrace of about 1,000 square feet.
The listing is jointly held by Lisa Vaamonde and Michael A. Jones, both of Compass.
Though they sold their castle-like home in Los Angeles last year for $8.9 million, Kruger, who will soon publish a children’s book, and Reedus, set to reprise his role in a third installment of the cult-favorite “Boondocks Saints” franchise, have no shortage of houses to call home. They each still own the downtown New York penthouses they bought before they coupled up — Kruger’s is currently on the market at $4.4 million — and Reedus owns a big spread in upstate New York as well as a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home on the woodsy outskirts of Atlanta, Ga., where the zombie-fighter filmed “The Walking Dead,” currently airing its eleventh and final season.
