Last week, veteran actor Kiefer Sutherland sold his longtime Los Angeles home in L.A.’s Toluca Lake neighborhood in an off-market deal. Records show the traditional-style estate transferred for a hefty $8 million — or more than double what the “24” star paid for the place a decade ago, back in summer 2012.
Records now reveal the new owners are engaged Tinseltown couple Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song — he the child star who rose to worldwide fame in the 1990s as Kevin McCallister in the “Home Alone” movie franchise, she a fellow child star (London Tipton in “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”) who’s currently appearing on the Hulu show “Dollface.” The pair are upgrading to Toluca Lake from nearby Studio City, where they own a modern farmhouse-style home acquired about three years ago.
Because the Sutherland residence was never officially on the market, photos and details are scarce. But tax records show the two-story structure was built circa 1930s and originally designed by noted architect Paul Williams. Since remodeled by L.A.-based interior designer Ryan Brown, it features five bedrooms and six baths in almost 4,900 square feet.
Tucked away on a lushly landscaped parcel spanning over a half-acre, and securely protected by high walls and gates, the beige-hued and wood-paneled structure boasts a spacious cobblestone motorcourt and three-car garage out front.
Inside, the house includes formal living and dining rooms, a more casual family room, plus a kitchen outfitted with a center island and breakfast nook. Elsewhere is a primary bedroom overlooking a manicured backyard with a large rectangular pool wrapped by a sundeck and putting green, plus an expansive terrace ideal for al fresco dining and entertaining with a pergola and fireplace.
The listing was held by Kelly Sutherland of Coldwell Banker Realty; Craig Knizek and Kevin Dees of The Agency repped the buyers.
