Leo DiCaprio Lists His Dad’s Historic Red Oak Manor in Los Feliz

Back in 2016, when he was still armed with a now-waning penchant for real estate investing, Moby paid $3.4 million for this century-old English Tudor Revival home in Los Feliz. The musician turned restaurateur then embarked on an extensive two-year renovation — retaining the home’s original craftsmanship while adding modern conveniences — before flipping the place to Leo DiCaprio in 2018. Since then, the house has been primarily occupied by the actor’s father, George DiCaprio.

Back in May, the younger DiCaprio upgraded his dad to an even larger, $7.1 million mansion elsewhere in Los Feliz. And so it’s no big surprise that the no-longer-needed Red Oak Manor has popped back up for sale, asking $5.7 million — a chunk above the $4.9 million DiCaprio paid three years ago.

For that price, the buyer will lay claim to a 4,600-square-foot home with  five bedrooms and seven baths. While the obviously staged interiors are somewhat generic in their oppressive neutrality, they still feature original groin-vaulted ceilings, French doors and a trio of fireplaces adorned with ornamental moldings.

Nestled behind a row of towering hedges and a security gate, the nearly quarter-acre lot is interspersed with a forest of mature pines visible from almost every room. A stone pathway meanders to a red front door with leaded glass windows, which opens into a spacious foyer that flows into formal living and dining rooms. An all-white gourmet kitchen is outfitted with marble countertops, stainless appliances and a walk-in pantry. Tucked away to the side is a breakfast nook with a built-in banquette and French doors that open to a stone-clad terrace perfect for al fresco dining.

The main floor also hosts a media/family room accented by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. A set of French doors spills out onto a covered lounge area atop the two-car carport, complete with vistas of the lushly landscaped grounds boasting a pool and spa. Holding court upstairs are a duo of master suites — one with a fireplace, the other with a custom-fitted dressing area and an extra room ideal for yoga, and both equipped with spa-like baths and expansive closets. Two guest bedrooms also lie on the upper floor; and a lower level guest suite features its own private entrance, plus a “secret passageway” to a hidden bath and steam room.

In addition to the two Los Feliz properties, DiCaprio owns multiple other homes scattered throughout the country. Among them: the so-called Dinah Shore residence in Palm Springs, a $23 million vacant parcel of land overlooking Malibu’s Paradise Cove, and several luxury condos in Manhattan. His primary residence, though, remains a three-house compound in the city’s coveted Bird Streets neighborhood, high above L.A.’s iconic Sunset Strip.
