Lana Condor made her film debut at 19, as Jubilation Lee/Jubilee in the 2016 action-hero blockbuster “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Among the professional whirlwind that ensued, she landed the lead role in Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” film series — there have been three installments — and last year she starred in the Netflix comedy miniseries “Boo, Bitch,” for which she also served as an executive producer.
Looking to escape some of the hurly-burly of Hollywood and be closer to her family, Condor and her long-time boyfriend, actor/singer Anthony De La Torre, packed up and moved to Seattle several years ago. Beside moving house and living together, the creative couple also like to work together; De La Torre appeared in several episodes of “Boo, Bitch” and Condor is featured on several of De La Torre’s songs on Spotify.
Since moving to Seattle, Condor and De La Torre settled into a contemporary townhouse in the lovely Queen Anne neighborhood and last year, they got engaged. As is today’s custom, the betrothal was announced on Instagram, where she has 11 million followers. Tax records show they have now set their sights back on southern California, where records show Condor tossed down $2.9 million for a family-sized house in the Encino neighborhood of L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.
An upscale and well-maintained, late 1990s suburban sprawler of no specific architectural vernacular, the single-story residence is prominently capped by an over-sized cupola above the front door. The almost half an acre property is dotted with numerous mature trees amid tidy, verdant landscaping, and there are five bedrooms and five bathrooms within the home’s almost 5,000 square feet.
Embellished throughout with square columns, polished reddish-brown hardwood floors, and numerous arched French doors, the home features neutral-toned tiles and cabinetry in the kitchen and bathrooms. A formal dining room and library/office flank the tiled entrance hall, while two spacious step-down living rooms each have a fireplace between arched French doors to the backyard.
Recently spotted over all around New York Fashion Week, Condor says on her Twitter page that says she spends most of her life “thinking about pasta.” Unsurprisingly, the foodie’s social media is peppered with pictures of food, and now she has a giant eat-in kitchen with a five-burner stovetop to boil up all the pasta she can possibly consume and two double-drawer dishwashers to make clean up easy.
It gets flaming hot out in the Valley in the middle and late days of summer, so the home’s spacious loggia, which lies between the two living rooms, is a good spot to grab some shade. Beyond the loggia, there’s a pretty fountain at the center of a grassy formal garden, while trees and shrubs provide privacy for the swimming pool and spa that share one end of the yard with a covered dining patio and built-in grill.
The home was listed with Mike Glickman and David Weisman; Condor was represented in the transaction by Bryce Pennel and Brynn Sutherland, both with Compass.
