Back in late 2018, Lamorne Morris plunked down $3.1 million for a newly built estate in the San Fernando Valley community of Tarzana. A little over a year later, after he’d put his own bespoke touches on the modern Spanish-inspired digs, he told People during a video tour of the stylishly coiffed place that he planned to be there “for quite some time.”
Fast-forward to today, and the 38-year-old actor/comedian — best known for his role as Winston on the long-running hit sitcom “New Girl” — has obviously changed his mind. Now he’s hoisting the property back onto the market, asking a significantly higher $5.4 million.
Though that list price is around $2.8 million more than Morris originally paid for the house, he did extensively renovate the premises during his tenure in collaboration with close friend and interior designer Morgan Cleary. He also spiffed up the grounds, most notably adding a basketball court and eco-friendly, low-maintenance turf to the backyard.
Built in 2018, the big white stucco and terracotta-roof structure rests on nearly a half-acre parcel tucked away behind gates and high hedges, and is fronted by a wide driveway leading to a two-car garage. Inside, five bedrooms and eight baths are laid out amid 5,378 square feet of open-concept living space spanning two levels. Glitzy amenities range from a plush movie theater and patio-side gym to a full-home automation system with surround sound.
Other highlights include a double-height foyer that trickles into an entertainment-ready living room resting beneath a coffered ceiling and displaying a shiny floor-to-ceiling fireplace. Around the corner, a family room flanked by a dining room with wet bar and glassy wine cabinet connects to a gourmet kitchen outfitted with dual islands, first-class appliances and a windowed breakfast nook. The entire space flows seamlessly out to an al fresco dining area via Fleetwood sliding glass doors.
A cozy den awaits upstairs, along with a sumptuous fireside master retreat adorned with an expansive balcony, walk-in closet, and marble-clad bath sporting dual vanities, a steam shower, soaking tub and wood sauna box; and creature comforts continue outdoors, where the resort-like backyard hosts a pool and spa nestled alongside a bar-equipped poolhouse and lounge area with fire-pit. There’s also a barbecue center and the aforementioned basketball half-court.
Josh Altman and Matt Altman of Douglas Elliman of California hold the listing.
