Turns out Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon actually ended their publicized home search late last year, and they didn’t buy in Silver Lake. Instead, the actor, comedian and screenwriter (“Silicon Valley,” “The Big Sick,” “Welcome to Chippendales”) and his longtime writer/producer wife have settled into new digs in the quaint Larchmont Village neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Records indicate the couple, who just hoisted their Spanish-style mini-compound in Los Feliz onto the rental market, doled out $3.7 million — or around $500,000 over the asking price — for the modern farmhouse-style home, which was custom-built in 2015.
Tucked away on a walled and gated parcel approaching almost a quarter-acre, and securely protected by surveillance cameras and alarms, the white wood-sided and corrugated steel-roof structure features a detached two-car garage that’s been converted into a gym in the backyard, along with a manicured lawn and small porch out front. Inside, four bedrooms and a matching number of baths are spread across nearly 4,000 square feet of two-level living space accented throughout with light oak floors, shiplap walls and ceilings, built-ins, designer light fixtures and a Sonos sound system.
Main-level highlights include an entry hall leading to a fireside living room, plus a formal dining room sporting bespoke sliding barn doors embedded with wired glass. A spacious family room boasts a fireplace flanked by bookshelves and glass doors spilling out to an al fresco dining deck, while an adjacent gourmet kitchen comes complete with an expansive eat-in island, a stylish veined-marble backsplash, Sub-Zero refrigerator, and pricey La Cornue range and hood.
Upstairs, the swank master retreat rests beneath a vaulted ceiling, and displays a fireplace, private balcony and sizable walk-in closet, as well as a spa-inspired bath fitted with dual vanities, an ebony-hued clawfoot tub and shower. Elsewhere in the house is an office space; and outdoors, the flat and grassy grounds are laced with hedges and olive trees, and host a pool and spa bordered by a sundeck.
