Actress Kate Moennig, best known for her roles on the popular Showtime TV shows “The L Word” and “Ray Donovan,” is seeking a new owner for her chicly remodeled house in the Laurel Canyon enclave of Hollywood Hills. The well-connected Philadelphia native — fun fact, she’s Blythe Danner’s niece and Gwyneth Paltrow’s cousin — is asking nearly $1.9 million for the three-bedroom, two-bath property, a reasonable amount above the $1.4 million she paid back in 2017.
Tucked away on a compact and heavily wooded parcel, the structure’s contemporary architecture sports a façade adorned with redwood siding, accented by a trio of clerestory windows and two-car garage. Originally built in 1990, the home offers a little over 2,000 square feet of updated open-plan living space on three levels. There are lots of custom upgrades, including built-in speakers and a Nest Thermostat, plus walls of glass providing abundant sunlight and seamless indoor-outdoor environs.
A tunnel-like entryway is clad in wood and adorned with glass blocks, and leads to a glassy front door that flows into a lengthy hallway lined with an integrated shelving unit and ample space for displaying artwork. From there, a fireside living room boasting high ceilings and dark-toned hardwood floors spills out to an al fresco dining and entertaining terrace. An adjacent kitchen outfitted with high-end Wolf and Miele appliances, ebony-hued cabinetry and open shelves connects to a dining area that has French doors opening to a grill-equipped balcony.
Upstairs, a loft-like primary bedroom offers a windowed sitting area, spacious walk-in closet, and spa-inspired bath anchored by a wet room hosting a large shower and trendy sunken tub with Newport Brass fixtures. Down on the lower level, a den features a floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelf, and an en-suite guest bedroom with access to a fenced backyard patio. Topping it all off: a roof deck overlooking Griffith Park Observatory.
Moennig, 44, snagged her first acting job in 2000 as Jacqueline ‘Jake’ Pratt in “Young Americans,” and then went on to make a name for herself as Shane McCutcheon in “The L Word” and as an assistant to Liev Schreiber’s main character on “Ray Donovan.” She’s currently starring in “The L Word: Generation Q,” for which she also serves as an executive producer, and “Ray Donovan: The Movie.”
