At the outset of the HBO show “Succession” — which follows the adventures of the highly dysfunctional Roy family dynasty — Justine Lupe’s escort-turned-playwright character Willa Ferreyra was scheduled to appear in only three episodes. Initially, she and boyfriend Connor Roy were to part ways quickly; all that changed when she agreed to stick around, with the caveat that she would coexist in Roy’s Santa Fe compound if he helped finance her theater projects.
Now the 32-year-old Denver-born actress — also known for her roles on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Younger” and “Mr. Mercedes” — has morphed into a series regular, and she even got engaged to presidential-hopeful Roy, played by Alan Ruck, in the season-three finale. Lupe’s also set to star as Mila Kunis’ BFF in the upcoming Netflix movie “Luckiest Girl Alive”; and now she’s parlayed all of her rising stardom into the purchase of an impressive starter house in the Mount Washington community of Los Angeles.
Billed in the listing as “contemporary,” the 1970s residence has two bedrooms and an equal number of baths in a little over 1,400 square feet of open-concept living space. There are oversized windows, terrazzo and hardwood floors, high vaulted ceilings and bespoke light fixtures throughout, with upgraded modern amenities including a newly remodeled kitchen.
Tucked away off a quiet cul-de-sac, the fenced and gated structure is fronted by a two-car garage topped by a spacious wood deck that’s not only ideal for al fresco dining and entertaining, but also offers enviable views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Once inside, the living room boasts a wood-burning fireplace and an adjacent dining area, and the kitchen is adorned with countertops and a backsplash done up in avocado green, plus stylish wood cabinetry, an eat-in island and stainless appliances.
French doors off of the kitchen open to an airy office space that connects to the outdoors via sliders; and a separate wing holds both bedrooms, including a primary suite hosting a bath with a glass-encased shower. Outdoors, the compact backyard holds a grassy patch of land flanked by a patio and built-in bench seating.
