After first putting it up for lease more than a year ago, Johnny Galecki is now ready to permanently unload his Los Angeles home. But he’s not exactly giving it away; the current $11.9 million ask is significantly north of the $9.2 million he paid for the place back in 2015.
Should the property sell for anywhere near the current list price, it would be one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Outpost Estates, a celebrity-favored neighborhood in the eastern Hollywood Hills currently also home to folks like Winona Ryder, Felicity Huffman, Russell Brand and Madelaine Petsch, just to name a few.
As the L.A. Times reports, Galecki’s house is a particular celeb hotspot — it was previously owned by Jason Statham, and before him by Ben Stiller, who hired acclaimed New York-based design firm Roman and James to give the decadent home an expansion and restoration. Per records, another former owner was actor Lou Diamond Phillips.
Naturally, the historic digs come loaded with amenities. Sprawling over a two-parcel property that spans more than half an acre, the 1920s Spanish-style compound features a two-story main house and separate guesthouse with six bedrooms in 7,400 square feet. Numerous period details abound — a traditional clay tile roof, antique fixtures, restored terra-cotta tiles and even an original speakeasy pub are all on tap.
Located at 2427 Castilian Drive, it appears Galecki himself has not occupied the premises in some time, as all the furniture looks very staged. Invisible from the street behind a tall, ivy-covered wall, the house offers a main level with a billiard room, an eat-in kitchen with premium appliances, a cozy TV lounge and a state-of-the-art screening room with polished wood paneling and plush carpeting. Upstairs are three bedrooms, the master with a paneled leather wall, fireplace and balcony, plus dual walk-in closets and an ensuite bathroom slathered in marble tile.
The property’s gated driveway leads to the detached two-car garage, which lies directly below an upstairs guesthouse with two more bedrooms. Outside, the entire compound is awash in colorfully tiled fountains, lush lawns, tropical foliage and shady patios. In addition to a covered dining terrace, fireplace and built-in BBQ center, other relaxation-oriented amenities include a mosaic-tiled swimming pool and spa.
Galecki, 45, has been acting since the late 1980s, though it was his career-defining role as Leonard Hofstadter on “The Big Bang Theory” that made him a household name (and one of the world’s highest-paid actors, too.) Over the past few years, the high school dropout has reportedly been spending a significant amount of time in Tennessee, specifically near the Nashville and Franklin area.
