He’s now well into his 80s, but veteran actor and producer Harvey Keitel (“Taxi Driver,” “Mean Streets,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Reservoir Dogs”) hasn’t slowed down professionally. Â According to IMDb, the Oscar nominee has more than half a dozen projects currently in the works, including upcoming films “Live Fast, Die Laughing” and neo-noir drama “Joe Baby.”
And Keitel is still a formidable force in the real estate game, too. A few years ago, the Brooklyn native was widely reported to be house-hunting in New York City, touring multiple luxury condos — at least one of them priced at more than $12 million.
Dirt isn’t sure if Keitel ever actually pulled the trigger on a new NYC condo — he still owns his longtime flat at a handsome pre-war building in the Tribeca neighborhood — but we do know that the legendary tough-guy and longtime wife Daphna Kastner recently won a fierce bidding war for a Los Angeles home, out-muscling (and outspending) other millionaires to acquire the deed to a stylish residence in prime Santa Monica.
Though it was initially listed at $6 million, Keitel and Kastner ended up paying a hefty $7.2 million to close on their new home. That’s a big win for the seller, a non-famous social worker who acquired the property 20 years ago for just $1.4 million. Built circa 1930, the Spanish Colonial Revival-style home offers five bedrooms and five baths in nearly 4,500 square feet. Set in the coveted North of Montana area, the property is an easy jaunt to Erewhon, Whole Foods and a host of high-end shopping and dining options.
Keitel and Kastner have long lived primarily in New York, but this isn’t their only L.A. home. Records show the couple, married since 2001, still holds a luxury oceanfront Marina Del Rey condo that Kastner has owned since 1988.
