Eva Longoria, José Bastón Hang $23 Million Price on Secluded Beverly Hills Estate

Showbiz power couple Eva Longoria and José Bastón are on the move, hoisting their nicely secluded and colorfully appointed Beverly Hills estate on the market with a Hollywood A-lister asking price of $22.888 million.

Married in Mexico in 2016, the actress, producer and serial entrepreneur and the veteran media executive are aiming to almost double their money on the almost 1.5-acre spread they scooped up a bit more than five years ago for $13.5 million. Squirreled up a winding private lane high in Benedict Canyon and further fortified by electronic gates and a camera-enabled security system, the sprawling contemporary mansion disperses eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms, plus a couple more powder rooms, across a commodious 11,000 square feet.

A pared down, almost minimalist rendition of a grand Spanish Colonial villa, the two-story structure was freshly remodeled and, filled with truckloads of generic staged furnishings, bland as day-old dry toast at the time the couple bought it. However, Longoria told Architectural Digest last year that Bastón is an avid art collector and a “frustrated architect-slash-interior designer” who gravitates toward a clean, contemporary style that does not sacrifice comfort or livability.

And indeed, beyond the lacquered cherry-red front doors, the home is chockful of warm, organic textures and luxe finishes, brilliant pops of color, and a trove of modern artworks. There’s a heart-shaped Damien Hirst painting in the dining room, which Bastón gave to Longoria when they found out she was pregnant, and another iconic Hirst piece in the voluminous double-height foyer that is showered in natural light thanks to a massive skylight.

Other highlights include a climate-controlled wine room, a Taschen library, a sophisticated home office, and a media lounge with rich crimson velvet theater drapes and a nubby grey bouclé sectional sofa.

Best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis on “Desperate Housewives,” Longoria is neither desperate nor a housewife in any traditional sense of the word, but she does relish in the domestic pleasure of cooking and feeding her family and friends. Even though she told AD she would like it to be bigger, the kitchen is her favorite room in the house. The avid cook, who recently launched a line of cookware and a brand of tequila, has plenty of counter space and a sunny breakfast area that opens to the backyard. Just don’t ask Longoria how to use the microwave because she doesn’t know. There’s also a separate, spacious and well-stocked prep kitchen for entertaining.

The backyard’s myriad resort-like amenities include an azure mosaic-tiled pool and spa, a poolside cabana with a telescopic wall of glass, lots of evergreen artificial turf, a huge deck with panoramic cross-canyon mountain views, and a professional-grade gym housed in an L-shaped glass pavilion. Set below and out of sight of the house, the lighted tennis court has been covered in artificial turf and contains several children’s play structures, a fenced paddle ball court and a tented cabana with a convenient beverage station.

Back in 2015, before she and Bastón hooked up, Longoria forked over $11.4 million in 2015 for a Hollywood Hills compound that had been owned by Tom Cruise but took a huge, two-plus-million-dollar loss when it was finally sold in 2020 after 2.5 long years on the market. Longoria still owns a home hidden down a gated drive in the foothills above Malibu’s Zuma Beach that she picked up about 15 years ago; she and Bastón also maintain a home in Mexico City, where they live part time.
