Debbie Reynolds’ Former San Fernando Valley Home Hits the Market at $2.1 million

Before she moved to Beverly Hills, where she famously spent her last years in a memorabilia-filled home in Coldwater Canyon, right next door to her late and legendary daughter Carrie Fisher, late and beloved Hollywood icon Debbie Reynolds lived in the not-so-long-ago unglorified but now increasingly popular and pricey Valley Village area of L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.

Tax records indicate Reynolds purchased the suburban property in 1987 for $220,000 and, though she moved out more than a decade earlier, owned it until her 2016 death. Her estate did not sell the house until the spring of 2019, when it went for $1.135 million. After a quick gussy up, the property was sold again, in the late summer of 2019, for close to $1.85 million to Amanda Fuller, best known as the second actress to portray Kristin Baxter on the primetime sitcom “Last Man Standing,” and her multidisciplinary performer husband Matthew Bryan Feld. Now, after just over two years in residence, the bi-coastal couple, who also maintain a residence in New York City, has cleared the three-bedroom and three-bath house of personal belongings, staged it with generic furnishings, and set it out for sale at $2.1 million.

Spanning almost a quarter acre in a leafy, quiet area, and described in listings as a “1929 mini-estate,” the property’s faux-timbered Tudor-esque cottage measures in at a modest 2,100 square feet and mixes vintage charm with up-to-date amenities and modern-day creature comforts. Floors are covered in imported wide-plank French white oak, vaulted ceilings are enhanced with hefty ebony-stained wood beams, and there are carefully restored antique stained-glass windows in the main bedroom. The front door opens informally directly into an open-plan living/dining space anchored at one end by a sculpted fireplace at the other by the kitchen, with its combination of black and white custom cabinets and white, marble-like quartz countertops.

Each of the two guest bedrooms has direct access to the gardens as well as convenient access to a pair of renovated bathrooms. In the main bedroom, there’s a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams, plus a sleek bathroom, and a roomy walk-in closet behind a sliding barn door. So the story goes, Reynolds kept her piano in the main bedroom’s turreted seating area.

The property lacks a garage but does offer gated off-street parking, while backyard was designed for casual entertaining with expansive terracing, an open-air dining cabana, and a small swimming pool with inset spa. Evocative of an English country garden, according to promo materials, the beautifully maintained grounds also include several towering specimen trees, a bocce court and a small lemon orchard.
