David Spade popped up on single episodes of “The Facts of Life” and “Baywatch” before he really got his showbiz sea legs as a writer and cast member on “Saturday Night Live” in the early 1990s. During his time at SNL he received a trio of Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program and went on to star in several sophomoric comedies and the long-running sitcom “Just Shoot Me!” (1997-2003), for which he received a fourth Emmy nomination.
Many silly, not especially good comedy films followed, along with roles in a few box office barn burners; “Grown Ups” (2010) brought in $271.4 million in worldwide receipts, while the star-studded 2012 animated feature “Hotel Transylvania” hauled in $358.4 million.
More recently, the notorious ladies’ man, who’s had dalliances and romances with slew of bombshell actresses, was nominated for two Golden Raspberry Awards for his starring role in the critically savaged Netflix romcom “The Wrong Missy” and is scheduled to star in a not-yet-titled upcoming TV series created by Diablo Cody.
Over the course of his 30+ year career, the now 57-year-old stand-up comedian, actor, writer and tv host has amassed a fortune that allows him the wherewithal to upgrade his residential circumstances from his snazzy, celeb-pedigreed home in a particularly coveted part of Beverly Hills to a $13.85-million contemporary showstopper set into a sweeping curve just above the Sunset Strip where it pokes its massive boxy top out above towering hedges to take in sweeping views over the city.
The brand-new and never-lived-in mansion was listed with Farrah Brittany and Mauricio Umansky at The Agency, while Spade was represented in the deal by Hilton & Hyland’s Stuart Vetterick, who negotiated a substantial discount off the $15.45 million asking price.

In addition to his longtime home in the Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills, which he bought in 2001 for $4 million and was previously owned by both Eddie Murphy and Warren Beatty, he scooped up a slickly renovated Spanish bungalow in West Hollywood in a clandestine off-market deal last year for about $2.3 million.
