On the Amazon Prime series “The Boys,” Antony Starr portrays the popular yet much-feared Homelander. But in real life, the affable actor bears little resemblance to the statuesque blond supervillain who likes to zap folks into infinity with his piercing laser eyes! And he even has a new lair in Los Angeles that’s much more in keeping with the type of place his modest and patriotic alter ego — as well as the laidback, naturally brunette actor himself — likely would prefer to reside.
Per property records, the New Zealand native recently paid just over $2.2 million for an alluring craftsman-style house near the historic Sunset Square neighborhood of Hollywood. Last sold to a non-famous buyer for $1.7 million in 2017, the place transferred to Starr for $200,000 less than the original $2 million asking price.
Built way back in the early 1900s and since updated by designer Jeff Lewis of “Flipping Out” fame, per the listing, Starr’s newly acquired home rests on less than a quarter-acre of fenced and gated land, amid a quiet tree-lined street. Once inside, nearly 2,000 square feet of light-filled living space holds four bedrooms and 2.5 baths, plus a detached building that currently doubles as a yoga studio. There are rich hardwood floors, built-ins, skylights and clerestory windows throughout.
A walkway leads through palm-laced grounds and up to a covered porch boasting a stylish wood and glass-paneled door. From there, an entry foyer greets and flows into a spacious great room sporting a dining area, along with a living room with a white wood-beamed ceiling and French doors spilling out to a patio ideal for al fresco dining. Tucked away off of the foyer is a sitting room/office space adorned with a cozy window seat.
Other highlights include an eat-in kitchen outfitted with stainless appliances, a center island, marble countertops and a stylish subway tile backsplash, and a mirrored primary suite with French doors opening to the grounds and a spa-like bath equipped with a glass-encased shower. Elsewhere in the house are two additional guest bedrooms; and outdoors, the grassy yard holds a new saltwater pool flanked by a sundeck and pergola.
