Oscar De La Hoya Building Sleek New Las Vegas Mansion

Former boxing champion and current boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya is in the throes of building a huge home in an exclusive hillside community of Henderson, just outside of Las Vegas, that is scheduled to be completed in 2023. Clark County property records show De La Hoya paid $14.6 million in cold, hard cash for the ultra-modern home that will offer a total of 10,460 square feet of livable space.

The listing from luxury Realtor Kristen Routh-Silberman, a partner with Corcoran Global Living, describes the home as part of luxury builder Blue Heron’s Equinox Collection at MacDonald Highlands. With sweeping views of the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding mountains, the sprawling one-story home will have five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, plus two powder rooms, and an eight-car garage.

There will be 8,051 square feet of sleek, glass-walled interior space and 2,409 square feet of exterior space that is part of the livable umbrella of the home, according to the listing that describes the property as having a “statement entrance with a water feature and porte-cochere with a modern twist.” Plans call for a snazzy indoor water feature, too.

Renderings posted to the MLS (below) show the home is being built for entertaining, with lots of indoor and outdoor options, including a dining and wine room and a bar. Other comforts and luxuries will include an office, a gym, a guest wing, and a digital den, plus a media and entertainment room. In addition to the main kitchen, a butler’s kitchen is planned.

Bedrooms are all en-suite, and the home’s primary retreat will incorporate a spa bath, a private garden lanai and an outdoor shower. Presumably De La Hoya will install extensive fitness facilities and maybe even a boxing ring.

Outside, there are plans for a lap pool and spa, a wet deck, and some fire lounges, along with an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor living room with a couple televisions.

De La Hoya’s new digs sit near a record-setting $25 million home sold in June 2020 to Anthony Hsieh, founder and chairman of LoanDepot, a California-based non-bank consumer lender of home mortgages throughout the country.

For now, De La Hoya still has a substantial base in Los Angeles, where back in 2007, not long before he hung up his gloves for good, he paid married filmmakers Gale Anna Hurd and Jonathan Hensleigh $11.5 million for an 11,500-square-foot mansion that presides over more than three manicured acres in Pasadena.
